Whitehorse Big Easy routes

Family Fun 13km MTB Ride

Victoria Park (TBC) to the start of the Whitehorse Big Easy trail via Garlands Track and Road. Part way up the Whitehorse Big Easy exit onto private land and ride down 75% of Mad Max following farm tracks back to Garlands Road and returning to Victoria Park.

To the Top 20km MTB Ride

Victoria Park to the start of the Whitehorse Big Easy trail via Garlands Track and Road. Ride all the way to the Whitehorse and then turn for home coming back via Wriggly Beast, Rosewood Loop, Filthy Animal (top section) onto private land, down air strip, full length of Mad Max down, following farm tracks back to Garlands Road and returning to Victoria Park.

Real Deal 27km MTB Ride

Victoria Park to the start of the Whitehorse Big Easy trail via Garlands Track and road. Ride up and past the Whitehorse, down Link track to DOC land returning passed the whitehorse to the, Wriggly Beast, Rosewood Loop, Filthy Animal (top section) onto private land, down Grassy Ridge, up Brave Heart, up Winstons through Big Dip, up Dairy Lane, down air strip, full length of Mad Max down, following farm tracks back to Garlands Road and returning to Victoria Park.

18km Run

Similar to the open bike, the run offers some testing hills, private farm tracks and a great view from the top of the Whitehorse Hill.

12km Run or Walk

Still a challenging course, but accessible to everyone.

5km Run or Walk

It starts flat and meanders under trees along Naylors and Garlands Track, then a gradual uphill and easy descent to make your way back to the finish line! It's all on public land so you can start training at anytime. A really scenic course and achievable, low cost entry, no excuse not to join in! Child friendly.

1.5km Run or Bike

This event is for the younger members of the family, winding their way around the venue. It's a great way to get them involved.

The Veterinary Centre Whitehorse Big Easy encompasses four separate events:

Individual mountain bike categories - 13km, 20km, 27km

Individual walk or run categories - 18km, 12km, 5km

1.5km run or bike course for younger kids

Team event - runner 18km, MTB 27km

We have a new venue - Victoria Park is a 5 minute walk from the centre of the Waimate township, behind the painted silos. All event courses are loop tracks starting and ending at beautiful Victoria Park.

Courses for all ages and abilities, from the serious competitor to the Sunday stroller. Bring the whole family and have a fun day!

Race Briefing

Race briefing will be at 8.50am at the venue, with race start times between 9am (run and walk categories) and 10.30am (MTB). The prize giving will be between 2.30 - 3.00pm.

RACE RULES

1. All competitors compete at their own risk, and agree to abide by all race rules and observe all

safety requirements and to compete (run/walk or ride) within their own limits to ensure their own safety and wellbeing.

2. All competitors must be of sufficient fitness and skill to safely complete the race that they enter.

3. Organisers reserve the right to withdraw from the race any competitor who shows signs of fatigue or injury during the race.

4. All competitors must dress sufficiently for the conditions and weather likely to be experienced during the race.

5. The event will be held in all weather conditions unless these are so extreme that the damage

to the environment would be irreparable, or for any other reason that the organisers consider it unlikely that competitor’s will be able to safely and successfully complete the race. In either case

organisers reserve the right to cancel the event, and reserve the right to retain all entry fees.

6. Competitors must obey all course marshals, and follow the route as described and marked by the organisers.

7. Competitors must wear their race number on their bike (for riders) and on their chest (for runners

and walkers) to be visible at all times, and ensure it is recorded at the finish.

8. All competitors must carry all rubbish out with them – any competitor caught dropping rubbish will be instantly disqualified.

9. All bike riders must wear an approved bike helmet at all times when on their bike.

10. All competitors must attend the race brief roll prior to their race start.

11. All competitors must sign the Personal Statement of Ability and Safety which states that you have read, understood, and agree to these conditions of entry

12. Entrants being overtaken must give right of way to faster entrants during the race.

13. Organisers reserve the right to require further information regarding entrants less than 16 years of age.

14. Any entrant who contravenes general competition or race rules will be ineligible for prizes.

15. Dogs, except guide dogs, are NOT to be brought onto the property. This is a working farm with stock animals and domestic animals are NOT allowed.

16. Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Late penalty fee of $15 applies toregistrations received after February 19 2019.
