  • Did the Half Marathon in 2018

I really like the course itself, around Bewl water. Mostly on a trail, with only a few patches properly wet/slippery, it's a very enjoyable run.I personally liked the absence of distance markers. Disappointed with the food available at checkpoints but that's personal preference.Very disappointed with the finish though. There was barely anything, no celebration and no indication of your time...The start was also a complete shamble, with most runners not knowing where to go after the first mile...
  • Did the Half Marathon in 2018

Terrible! It was a hard route due to the combination of trail with road, however, the views along the route were great. The GPS tracking shows the route was a mile over the 1/2 marathon distance, the race started 1/2 hour late due to not enough people checking runners in, the course was over crowded but the worst part of the day was getting to the finish line to be told they had run out of medals!
  • Did the Half Marathon in 2018

The hills are very steep towards the end make sure you train for that. All the hills were right at the end of the course so brace for it.

The Brighton K9 Challenge is an open and welcoming run (or walk) with dogs over a 5km trial route. The route is mostly covered through the woodlands of Stanmer Park, Brighton. There is a steep uphill early on which is about the only thing you might pull out as a negative. But organisers are aware, receptive to feedback and have changed the route from previous years to make the run more enjoyable. I only mark down the race because I wasn’t sure where to go at the start which won’t be an issue unless you are at the front. There was a line of cones to the tree line and then a right turn. After this point everything is easy as friendly encouraging marshals are abundant. Water stations for dogs were located at a few spots on the course but I don’t remember for humans. I think they must have been some and at the finish water bottles are thrusted at you - you are well looked after. There are a lot of goodies on offer but mostly for your dog. Organisers care so much and pay attention to safety. My dog overheated in the excitement and copious amounts of water came our way to keep him cool post-race. If you are competitive then there are prizes; you will be looking at sub 22-23 minutes as a guide (judging by times from 2017 & 2018). Several exhibitors on site and the atmosphere is great given there are just ~100 competitors. But remember you will need a dog to take part…

This one was always going to be tough and the course proved just that (they say add 1- 1.5 hours to your average time) with a course elevation of approximately 1500 meters of steep hills(some with steps) and trails but saying that there was some incredible views and the trails were really fun to run throughThe marshals were friendly and helpful (although only present at the aid stations) and the feed stations were well stocked with Banana’s, Flapjacks and other goodies (the tailwind drink was also refreshing on the hot day) the event organisation was good, and the race director has been really good at getting back to me regarding issues and query’s (I feel like I’ve been the unlucky one on this race as received the HM medal as opposed to the Marathon one as well as tripping twice on the route) all-in - all the race is good for those die-hard trail runners but not so good for those hunting a PB, the finishers medal is enourmous and by far one of the best in my collectionI finished in a respectable time for the course of 5:39:31 and am really glad to have completed this one :-)
  • Did the event in 2018

I ran the marathon option and this is a tough course and in the 30* heat it was even tougher but still very enjoyable.I arrived at the race HQ which was at a hotel just a short walk from the race start. I registered and collected my race number with no fuss and was able to sort my last minute kit adjustments in the comfort of the hotel lobby as well use the toilets there.I then walked up to the start where we were given a safety briefing from the race director before being set off on time. The course was a double out and back to cover the marathon distance. I’m normally not a fan of out and back races but this one was fun as it was a great route with some technical trail, tough hills and beautiful scenery. The aid starting were stocked up with water, tailwind, juice, flapjacks, sweets etc and the marshals were very encouraging. At the end of the race you are presented with a fantastic medal, which you definitely feel u deserve at the end of a tough race. This was a testing race but the friendly and supportive atmosphere spurs you on all the way to the end

This was my first 10k after 8 months of injury and I entered at the last minute as I have only just become 10k fit.  also my friend was running the half marathon.Redhill Aerodrome is a great setting for the race, although not the easiest of places to find.  It was a scorcher of a day and I hadn’t done my homework about the course in advance of the race.I found the course challenging, as I have already said i’ve only just out of injury and it’s not the easiest of courses in these circumstances, throw in a scorching hot day and even the fittest would find it tough. For the 10k it’s one loop around the country roads which on a cooler day would have been very pleasant, but my fitness kind of tested me after about 5 miles and the hill at the end was in my view quite cruel
  • Did the event in 2018

Not a bad road race round quietish country lanes. Registration was easy and I picked up number on the day.the course was all on roads with a couple of hills but nothing too major compared to where I’m used to running. The heat made it pretty tough though, loads of water stations for the half marathon runners with plastic cups.better signage is needed for the parking as I drove straight past without realising the first time. Also the race was delayed a bit for people to use the toilets, of which there were way too few.nice medal at the end and for the price it was a bargain. I will run it again if I’m in the area.
  • Did the event in 2018

I have run this event (10k distance) for the second consecutive year. I think it's a very nice event, quite well organised and enjoyable.Pros: plenty of parking space, 3 water stations, marshalls at every corner, nice medal, bib number with chip sent via post before the event, good value for money.Cons: car park should be better sign posted, course is challenging with numerous ups and downs and one killing hill close to the end, roads are open to traffic and you need to rely on drivers being kind and careful, very little local support.

  • Did the 10k in 2018

A really lovely course, along the sea front. The only bad points were it's not a closed off course so there are cyclists, dog walkers, and all manner of pedestrians to dodge around who were completely oblivious to the event. It's only a smallish event, so it's not gonna be as high profile as the larger, well known events, so it's to be expected.
  • Did the 10k in 2018

It was my first ever running event so I dont have anything to compare it with. I enjoyed it but felt there was quite a bit of disorganisation. There was huge confusion to where the starting line was but apart from that, it didnt put me off. There was only one water stop but in fairness it was hotter than expected. I would do it again for sure and enjoyed the day.
  • Did the 10k in 2018

Organisation was appalling. Confused start with entire race being ran into the paths of pedestrians, cyclists and elderly walkers. Very dangerous.Massive lack of water on a hot day, no km markers and a finish line I shared with a confused cyclist.I had to find someone to get a non event medal.Bad reviews year after year. I wish I had read them first.Avoid this one. Dreadful.

I hate hills so I am really not sure why I entered this race. Everyone that knows me knows I develop hill Tourette’s. However I totally and utterly loved this race. The car park wa easier to find but the long wet grass led to damp trainers before you start. The hill to get to the start line was erm epic!! After that any hill is easy!

The race briefing was good and the Marshalls were fabulous throughout. Lots of visitors cheering you on. I was one of the last runners doing the 10k, but the Marshalls still cheered you on as of you were the first. The only downside was not having a race finish photo. Runthrough are usually really good for this, but they seemed to be focusing on the faster runners for photos. My only photo was right at the start.

The finish shirts and medals are unique and great quality.

I actually can’t wait for the next event to do this again.

  • Did the event in 2018

I don't normally like hills (who does?) and running a road race on a hill is not something I'd normally do but the uniqueness of the Beat Box Hill 10K made me sign up a few days before the event and I was so glad I did.

Check out my vlog on YouTube to see the event for yourself: https://youtu.be/xsY8ZuXJsCw

This was the first time the zig zag road to Box Hill had been closed for a running event. We ran down, then up Box Hill twice for the 10K distance. It was a proper challenge and very rewarding to complete it.

The event was very well organised, the finishing tech t shirt and medal were great and the marshals and rock choir gave great support.

I really enjoyed the event and will be back again next year.

There were a few things that I think the organisers could do to make the event even better:

The parking was in a farmers field at the bottom of Box Hill which was fine but the grass was very long and our shoes were wet before we started the walk to the top of Box Hill. It would be good to get the grass cut next time.
A better system of getting the runners to line up at the start.
The road should remain closed for all vehicles (including cyclists) until the end of the 10K. There were cyclists going down the hill at speed whilst runners were on their second decent. Not good!

This was my first time doing the Tonbridge Half. It was a very well organised event,. The route itself was ok, but a bit boring as one country lane looks like another. The crowd support was sadly lacking, and aid stations a bit of a let down with only water available. It has a few hills but not as bad as I expected.
  • Did the event in 2018

First time for this race and was thoroughly impressed on all accounts, seemless registration, no ques for T-Shirt collect, race village for coffee and food, changing areas and a secure bag-drop (prob the most efficient one I have seen!)
The Course was very scenic in the sunshine and the "undulations" were not too severe.
The support at the side of the road in Leigh was amazing, it was as if the whole village had come out to cheer us on and offer water and oranges!
Excellent medal and good quality running shirt
I will def be signing up for this one again.
  • Did the event in 2018

Great race, really enjoyed it, some lovely scenery and great support particularly in Leigh, definitely not a flat course so maybe not a race to get a PB at! The only negative was the lack of toilets at the race HQ.

This event provides the opportunity to run either 10k or 10 miles.I've run the 10k race in each of the last 3 years and think its probably been my favourite 10k event. Its a challenging, undulating route over mixed terrain, but suitable for all, and the bluebells look amazing. There is no medal but you do recieve free professional photos.

Nice flat course taking in Worthing prom. Two good water stations with bottled water. Which was great as it was a very hot still day. Very well organised considering the amount of people running. Handy having pacers too. Awesome medal as well!
  • Did the event in 2018

This was the first time I had run this event and I had the pleasure of pacing my brother round his first race so I took it a bit easier than usual. This allowed me to take in all the sights and sounds of this lovely race. There was plenty of cheap, local parking which was easy to access before a short walk to the race village on the seafront. There were plenty of portaloos which is always a good sign! We didn't use the baggage drop but there was one available before lining up to start.Although there were no official pens there were large signs showing estimated finish times and I didn't find it too congested when we started in the 60 minute area. The field strung out pretty quickly after the start. There could have done with being some more speakers further down the start area, as unless you were at the sharp end nothing could properly be heard. The course itself was an out and back taking in some seafront and a couple of residential streets and a park/field area. It was all on closed roads and the local support was fantastic, as well as the marshals who were great. There were two water stations on course with water in sports bottles. The course was flat and fast and I will be coming back next year to try for a quicker time. The medal was great and the offer of free photographs sounded good, but when they were released there were two of me, but none of my brother who was slightly disappointed!Overall a great event that I would highly recommend.
  • Did the event in 2018

I reallly enjoyed this run, it was fast and flat and the local support was fabulous! Huge thanks to the lady with a hosepipe half way round! It is an out and back route and easy to navigate! I didnt hear a race briefing, but the information leaflet told me everything I needed to know. And the medal is very pretty! I would reccomened this run to anyone, advanced runner or beginner . Througherly enjoyable.

An almost ideal race to go for a 10k PB, why?1) It's a flat out and back west from Hove Lawns to Shoreham Port and back, with a hassle free chicane you deal with twice and one dead turn at 5k.2) The field is top class so be sure to find yourself being dragged along (top 100 finshers go sub-40) or inpired by some impressive performances by the front runners.3) Minor point, but the organisation is straightforward.  Register online, number posted, turn up to start line with 10 mins to go.Only one negative point but worth noting.  A seafront race is likely to be affected by wind so be prepared for one half of your race to be trickier than the first.

Race HQ is the unique Arundel Outdoor Lido right on the banks of the River Arun and under the shadow of the castle.

There are three events to choose from, the Long Triathlon (800m swim, 40km bike, 10km run), the Sprint Triathlon (400m swim, 20km bike, 5km run) and Relay Triathlon run over the long distance course (1 swimmer, 1 cyclist & 1 runner).

The Long Triathlon starts at 6:00am followed by the Sprint Triathlon at 7:40am. The swim is in the heated outdoor 25m pool; the bike uses mainly A Class roads and has a long gradual climb shortly after the start. The run takes athletes along the tree lined avenue by the castle and River Arun before heading towards the Arundel Estate. The Long Triathlon then climbs to the trig point on the estate affording spectacular views at the top, before a rolling section into the village of South Stoke. A catering marquee and Trade Stand will be sited within the grounds of the Lido. Arundels shops, cafes, pubs, museums and castle will also be open to the public.

Even though the distances are just under the standard Olympic length, this is a challenging event.Pool swim in a heated open air lido, lanes are narrow, but marshals are strict on how many in a lane at a time so works well. Walls are slippy and you exit from the deep end so if your a short arse like me it can be difficult. For the standard distance there are 2 laps including a long slog up an almost never ending hill ( well thats hae it feels like) there are some fast down hill stretches, and some undulating parts which allows you to forget the hill until you start lap 2.Run is just horrible. The star lulls you into a fulse Spence of security, but you soon start to climb, as you pace the water station you go onto a grass track and the hill gradant increases and increases and increases. As you turn and head back down the hill, don't forget to turn left after the water station, where you are meet with some more hills that would have got the headlines apart from. The big bugger of the hill you just ran up. You turn once more and retrace your path back to the water station more or less and then it's down hill from there. Do to the early timing of this event it can be cold on the bike, and waiting for your swim start so be prepared.

Arundel Lido Superb backdrop of a Castle while you do the swim in the Lido outside Pool. We were lucky with the weather a beautiful sunny morning! I entered the Standard also a Sprint option.Standard is shocker of an early starter at 6am! Really organised wave start and just 4 to a lane at a time. Transition is really close by on a lawned area next to the pool. Not on closed roads the bike leg is out onto main roads in a loop up over a hill with a long descent down A29 back into town. Marshalled really well. The run is into town along the river by the side of the Castle up a hill ..yes that HILL It's 300ft! With a very undulating just under 10k Thank God! It's a challenging course with the Finish back by the Lido. It's fantastic for spectators. loads of refreshments available BBQ , Massage Tent and Prizes for Age Group winners .. and of course your finishers smashing Raw Energy T Shirt with Cliff Bars!

A really lovely course with a great crowd over the whole course.

Parking was well marshalled by the cadets. It was just getting out of the car park which was difficult.

First time doing my most local race! Nice course taking in a lot of Bognor prom. Would have been tough on a windy day but this year was overcast and not too hot. Well organised and friendly atmosphere.

I loved this - great scenery from Cranleigh up on to the Greensand Way (boy, what a climb though).Somewhere around 100 people doing this (half and full), but absolutely lovely atmosphere, great organisation (I signed up last Thursday, but no issues whatsoever).Course was well marked, although (in my enthusiasm) i went off track slightly a couple of times - with a small field it's easy to lose the folks ahead (and anyway, they sometimes weren't any better).Loved it, and it's definitely on my "do this again every year" list.
