Are you ready in Scotland?

Thats right, Rough Runner is coming back for the 4th year running! Our inaugural event in 2016 was a great success, soon superseded by our 2017 event, and then even more at our 2018 events in the stunning Penicuik House - that saw over double the numbers and amazing feedback, so we have to come back in 2019!

So were bringing back our awesome, TV game show-inspired obstacles north of the border, although have just moved over to a different, although also stunning new venue, Penicuik Estate, thats right in the middle of a bunch of major Scottish cities. Its an amazing place and it makes for an incredible course.

For those whove been before, come back, take on a long distance and see what new obstacles and fun things we have in store for you!

So go create a team, grab some friends and colleagues and help us to make an absolutely amazing event happen!

Scottish Half Marathon & 10K
Musselburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom

The annual event has grown in popularity since its inception four years ago and 2018 was no different. Around 5,000 runners headed down to the East Lothian coastline on a stellar year for the event, which saw three course records broken. Runners took full advantage of the stunning flat routes, taking in the famous Golf Coast along the way.

For the second year, the Scottish 10K kicked off proceedings, starting at 9am at Musselburgh Racecourse, before the Half Marathon got underway at 11am from Meadowmill Sports Centre. An estimated half a million pounds was raised for charitable causes, and plenty of personal bests were achieved!

Thousands of supporters lined the stunning East Lothian routes on what was a bright, mild September morning. The final furlong at Musselburgh Racecourse provided the perfect backdrop for runners to bask in their achievements and muster a sprint finish in front of the large crowds as the finish gantry came into view. Once over the line, runners were able to kick back with a beer or glass of champagne and a bite to eat in Musselburghs stunning picnic area.

Ultra Tour of Edinburgh

Dawn breaks and in the crisp autumn air of Scotlands Capital a quite remarkable event gets underway. Enveloped within the beating heart of this most famous of cities, the runners of the Ultra Tour of Edinburgh set off with a Braveheart charge down the most famous street in Scotland the Royal Mile. Their course then weaves 57km through streets, alleyways, onto hills, up crags, past monuments, museums, seats of Royalty, Government and up and down 3000 feet of ascent and descent.

The Ultra Tour of Edinburgh is unique. Many events claim to be. But this one is an Ultra Run in a city a city like no other. Rat Race is the UKs best known adventure sports outfit and our company was forged on the streets of Edinburgh in 2004 with the staging there of our first ever event. It is to our spiritual home that we bring a superlatively doable Ultra. 57km on foot is no mean feat but for all those out there who think they can go that extra mile, you can. And what better place to do so than somewhere so hauntingly beautiful, rugged, gnarled and famous in equal measure.
