This run was a well organised, very scenic and friendly run. Organisation was great, pre run details sent out were spot on and precise. The drink stations on the way round were plentiful for a very hot day. The local scouts were running one of them and they were great and encouraging. There was also a sponge stop too which I was very grateful for.The run is not on closed roads, however I did not feel unsafe at any time. They are rural roads, the marshals were plentiful and they were giving plenty of warning about both cars and runners as needed. There is a cut off time of 3 hours for the run. There was a fab medal at the end and I did need to see the first aiders at the end who did an amazing job.2 small problems:there was a timing issue so the results were late coming out and then there were some discrepancies. However a quick email and it was quickly rectified. All the photos are free to download, however if you are a slower runner there isn't many photos and none at the finish line. The person who finished about 2 mins in front of me was the last person to be photographed. I finished in 2hrs 40, well within the time limit.

Since 1990 this event has been five times host to the National Sprint Championships, and with the perfect venue it is not difficult to see why.

We bring you this novice, sprint, standard and middle distance event in the perfect triathlon venue. The swim takes place in the boating lake with beautiful views over the Leicestershire and Warwickshire countryside. The cycle is on a fast route with quiet and well maintained roads and the final run section circles the lake

    • Did the Middle in 2018

I think the organisers should've said the swim MAY be non wetsuit. I brought mine with me just in case but lots didn't. There wasn't much support from Marshalls on the bike route, one on a tight corner sat in his car the whole time literally paying no attention to the race. Another I told a competitor needed assistance, the Marshall didn't seem to know what to do. To top it all off the run was over a mile short? Couldn't we have added an extra lap?
    • Did the Sprint in 2018

Very late start meant family hanging around longer also messed with pre race nutrition. Transition not very organized with regards to bike racking. Very poor.
    • Did the Olympic in 2018

The note about it being a non wet suit swim was confusing and if you had said it 'may' be a non wet suit swim then all those who didn't bring theirs may have done, I did have mine.

people have left reviews about this being a flat course, which it is, well relatively! there are 2 quite steep small hills to which the decents are pretty short, and for the rest of the course it felt like I was continuously running up hill with long very gradual inclines. maybe just me, it was quite hot too , but just don't expect a totally flat course

Very warm but a nice run. Atmosphere was ok, but most crowds had cleared when the half marathon runners had finished. As an overall run, I'd say 8 out of 10

Very pleasant, well organised sportive. Excellent value for money.  Lovely place to start as well.    Would have liked to have had some flapjack at the end for those of us who don't stop at the feed stations, I missed out and I heard it was ace!   Also, a couple more waymarkers after the feed stations would have been useful.  As so many people stopped to eat, those of us who didn't had a couple of 'is this the right way?' moments as there was no-one around and suddenly no waymarkers!

A really nice summer route that is mostly flat. We were lucky enough that the weather was perfect for the 7am run. There was a great turnout for an (almost full) loop around the reservoir. Unfortunately DPD had let the race organisers down and the t-shirts hadn't arrived but I organised for mine to be sent on. The medal is a nice medal and the goodie bag had water, chocolate and haribo in what more could you want before heading to Parkrun.Overall great little summer route that I would definately consider doing again next year.
    • Did the event in 2018

The concept is simple, a 7 km race at 07:00 (and if you're up for it another at 19:00 \ 07:00 pm) on the 7th day of the 7th month at Severn Trent's Draycote water. Hence Seven @ Severn. This year it was a warm Saturday morning, and a great turnout for the 07:00 race. 341 runners. The Race Organiser has a well established routine at it's Draycote races. So turn-up, park, pick-up race number, warm-up, run, collect medal etc.I've done a few races at Draycote now, and there was a special feeling about this 07:00 race, no doubt helped by the sun, the temperature etc.The course is a partial lap of the reservoir, so there's a short walk from event HQ to the start and then the familiar lap. There was a drinks station part way round, water from cups. And drinks available at the end. A nice medal in the shape of a 7 (what else). Unfortuantely DPD had let the organsiers down and there were no tees at the morning race, but I collected mine in the evening and I understand that they were prepared to send to people who left their address. For those who've never been, there's plenty of parking and toilets at the visitor centre which also has a restaurant. There's also a playground suitable for younger kids if they want to tag along.

This is the second year that I’ve run both races i.e. the 7am and the 7pm race. The field was larger, this year, owing to the fact that the 7/7 was a Saturday. There is very little to criticise about this event. The organisation is excellent. The venue is picturesque, with a slightly undulating route. The medals are excellent quality and the t shirts are decent enough.I really enjoy this race and look forward to next year!

    • Did the Half Marathon in 2018

Atmosphere and crowd participation was fantastic, weather was too hot but if you have a race in July that is to be expected. Forty minute delay was very disappointing, people who don't mind the heat will forgive that as it was the first event but not if it happens again. My son , daughter and myself all measured over 13.1 miles ( our sat navs had it 13.17 to 13.20 miles) this is not a complaint I just wondered if you are confident you measured the course exactly.
    • Did the Half Marathon in 2018

the race was delayed by nearly an hour which made the heat nearly unbearable during the long shadeless stretches. water was given in cups which is horrible as you can't carry it with you. but have to drink it on the spot. the first water station gave out water with a very weird lemony taste to it, without saying it maybe wasn't even water. the water stations with cups weren't great organised as people shouted last minute which side was water, which were sport drinks, but by then it was too late to get in lane. thankfully some visitors hosed us down so we stayed cool. the delay was a massive game changer causing lots of discomfort under the given (stable for weeks) weather conditions the race should have been cancelled. the delay caused parking fees as well.

Great event, and a good medal, shirt and goody bag for £15 so well done for that one!

Unfortunately, due to the nature of the course, there are few crowds around the majority of the course, and it can get lonely if, like me, you aren't the fastest runner in the world.

ALL the marshals and volunteers are lovely and so supportive. I have registered to do another 10km and I'm sure I'll be back again and again.

The Kenilworth Half Marathon route is an undulating out and back course in the town centre and along quiet country lanes with the first and last part on the Town main street. Although there are several small hills, many runners have obtained PB times on the course.

The course has a rolling road closure in place.

    • Did the event in 2018

This was a will-organised event which seems to attract a lot of local club runners. Going through the castle at the beginning is cool and the rest of the course is mostly an out and back along closed rural roads. There is a bit down residential streets on the way in and out of the town.

It's a hilly course so not one for PB-hunters. Plenty of volunteers at the water stations and a heavy first aider presence.

The medal was decent and chunky and we also got a reasonable long sleeved technical top.

    • Did the event in 2018

This was the first time I had done this race as it formed part of my training for the Berlin Marathon which is 2 weeks later. It was easy to find not being local to Kenilworth and the race instructions had been sent a couple of weeks before indicating that all the car parks are free which is an added bonus. I arrived about 7:50 so about an hour before the race was due to begin and I managed to get the last car park space right in the town centre. My advice would arrive 20-30 mins earlier to make sure as otherwise, it could lead to time being wasted looking for a car parking space. Finding and getting my race number from registration was a breeze as it's at the local Holiday Inn which is situated near to the start of the race and right near where I had parked :)So the race began at 9:00 which is nice and early and with the weather being very hot it was nice to know that I would be done before 11:00 baring any disasters to myself on the course. It is an out and back course and I can only describe it as undulating as with every up comes a down. This is pretty much along the entire route so if you are after something flat then this isn't the race for you. I enjoyed the hills and being in the countryside it provided beautiful scenery with all the roads on the course being closed. A water station was every 2.5 miles and they were bottles, not cups!! A bonus for any race! You finish and start in the town centre and get a nice downhill sprint finish once you've rounded the clock tower. At the finish, I received two goody bags including the bespoke medal and a long sleeve technical t-shirt. Overall this was a really enjoyable race and well worth the £25 entry fee!

From start to finish this was so wonderfully organised... loads of local club runners there which had the capacity to make Justin average non club running jo very scared... all I had to do was stay ahead of the hubby whom was going at the pace he would be pacing the GNR at to get a PB. Well I got so distracted by the course and the views I forgot about it!,  the stations were vottles not cups and cups and marshals great. the finish was lovely and the medal mint!! And a mars bar to boot in my goodie bag!, well done kenilworth running club!,

It is undulating in parts and these a short sharp hills with nice downhill to get you back up to pace.  Basic water station at every 2.5 miles. There are a small amount of marshalls but as there was mile markers and signs there was no chance of going wrong. You get a print out of your chip timing as well. This one would be ideal for wheelchair users as well. Goody bag. Drink..water..cereal bar..medal.. and a bright yellow t shirt. Which is handy for the winter. For £12. You get a lot for your money.. more than you get for races that cost 5 times that amount. One I would do again!

Whilst there isn't a lot to say about the event, everything I can say is positive.Cheap entry fee (£12- £14)The course is simple, all on tarmac and slightly undulating in places, so it doesn't get boring! The views around the reservoir are very nice too. The race HQ abd facilitirs were close to the car park, which is always a bonus for post-race tired legs.Once you've finished, you get a medal, hi-vis t-shirt and goody bag - which is a lot more than I've had in other events where I've paid a lot more to enter! I wasn't holding my breath for a good performance today, but ended up with a new distance PB so pretty happy with that! Will definitely do this event again!

This year was a slightly different course to last year and had twice as many participants, too.The course consisted of circuits of the park, a road section and a canal side section. The course was narrow in parts but this did not cause much of a problem, although my sister was hit rather heavily on the elbow by someone who was pushing through’s mobile phone. The last 100 metres of the race was on rather muddy grass which did slow down any sprint finish. The weather was cold and wet but it was still an enjoyable race.At the end of the race, we were presented with a rather large medal, a banana and some water.I’m looking forward to the Stratford version of the race in September.
    • Did the event in 2018

Second year I have done this event although the course had been altered slightly this year. Its basicly a lap within the Park, a lap on the road running around the edge of the park (one part closed road the second part a coned of lane) along the canal tow path back into the park for another lap back onto the road cut through the park onto the tow path again back into the park for the finish. At the start there is no particular area for different ability runners so you will find yourself either dodging around people or being dodged round by quicker runners but once the first kilometer is out the way things settle down. There is one water station provided at 5k and this year they had mini bottles of water which I liked perfect fit for the hand and not as much waste. Plenty of people at points within the park to cheer you on. Chunky medal at the finish along with water and bananas.

Good course - pretty challenging and nice scenic routes, road a bit rough in places but generally ok. Nice route to run on , mixed terrain but generally solid footing, enjoyed that part even though it was hard.Organisation was poor however- there was no one there when I arrived at all, registration was late opening and the start was delayed by 40 mins (even when they said it would be 30 mins late, they still werent ready). Website said different start time to the pre race email. A lack of signs on the bike course so made you think youd gone wrong. There was a foot down stop on the course but when you got there the officials waved you through so you didnt know what to do. The mic the guy used to give instructions was very muffled and hard to hear There were runners as well as duathletes all starting together and once they fired the gun he suddenly shouted for the duathletes to hold back and wait 1 minute - and then a split second changed his mind. It was chip timed so didnt matter too much but showed the general disorganisation. Could have been better

It's a proper XC run so wear the right footwear and don't expect a quick time. The bike course is on some rough, pot holed roads....you need to keep your eyes peeled at all times.
    • Did the event in 2018

Lovely local race in beautiful location, taking in the stunning grounds of Holdenby House and quiet country roads around surrounding villages.

Good pre-race information, although organisation on the morning of the race seemed a little bit last minute and led to a delayed start time. Organisers and Marshalls were very friendly and helpful though so this wasn’t a major issue!

5km run loop was on gravelly estate roads and grass, and was pretty undulating with a steep climb and a couple of longish drags. Definitely a tough run course, although really enjoyable with lovely views.

20km bike loop was again pretty undulating, with a hilly and technical first half followed by a flatter second half. Some sections of road surface were pretty bad, but on the whole a good, scenic but challenging course. Pretty quiet traffic-wise and well marshalled.

This is year 7 of this series of 4 summer races. This year the start and finish of the race were moved and in my opinion this was a good thing.  The rest of the 5k course was unchanged - 2 laps in and outside of Victoria Park. The race attracts many local clubs but is also very suitable for first timers and novices. The race is reasonably priced and you always get a decent medal. Water and plentiful supply of Jaffa cakes are available at the finish. This is a race that I rarely miss.
    • Did the event in 2017

I chose to sign up for this race series as it is near to where I work. Although described as the summer series the weather was far from summery. As a relatively new (and unattached) runner I was a bit intimidated by the number of club vests around me. I needn't have worried as the was a good mix of ages and abilities taking part.  I didn't hang around too long after finishing as it started to rain so can't comment on presentation but I was really pleased to receive a good quality medal.
    • Did the event in 2017

This series of four 5k races has been around for six years and I have taken part in each one. Last night was the first in this year's series. The race is ideal for runners of all abilities and has grown from  a few locals to now including quite a few running clubs. This, however, has not made it an elitist race.Last night's race was one of the lowest fields that I can remember. This was due to the fact that Leicester City FC were playing at home and this caused chaos on the roads. Also the weather was not very summer-like!However, the organisers - NiceWork- did their usual good job of providing an enjoyable, no-frills race with plenty of Jaffa cakes and drinks at the end. A nice touch was that I was handed my medal and a cup of water as soon as I crossed the line.I look forward to race 2 next month.

I enjoyed this event, I know many people dont like laps as it can be boring, but it has its advantages as you nearly always have company, And easier to pace yourself, the only complaint the car park at 5 pound is a bit much, I managed to pay at reception, but was frustrated at the car park as a debit card was wanted to park as a runner I dont take my cards with me.

    • Did the event in 2018

This was my first Woodhouse May Day Challenge despite the event being in its 10th year. It’s a small, chip timed race with about 600 entrants split between walkers and runners across the hills and lanes of Charnwood in Leicestershire. It’s slightly more than a half marathon and comes in at 13.5 miles with a variety of terrain but mostly trail. There are two notable tarmac sections, one long uphill inside the first 2 miles and then the long tarmac path that crosses the beautiful Bradgate Park. Getting to the event has to be done by road and there is ample on street parking or you can park in a field provided by the organisers, a short walk from the start. The event starts at the Woodhouse Eaves village hall which is also where you collect your race numbers on the day. Tea and coffee is available for the runners before the off and there is a friendly atmosphere all round. The walkers set off at 8:30am and the runners at 9:30 which means the fastest walkers and runners are coming in at similar times. The organisation was excellent and extra water stops had been added to account for it being the hottest May Day on record. As well as water and juice, there was flapjack, jelly babies and most usefully, buckets of water with sponges in you could use to cool yourself down. The martials were all excellent and allowed us to efficiently cross the few roads that we had to and worked really hard out in the sun all day.The closing stretch of the 13.5 mile course has you climbing up hill back into Woodhouse Eaves and circling around the edge of a field behind the village hall. This is where most of the spectators are and as you cross the finish line they call in your name over the loud speaker: ‘representing Shepperton Running Group, number 17 Jonathan Ashdown’ etc which is a nice touch. There is no medal for this event but there is always a momento, in previous years there have been tshirts, this year it is a soft draw cord trainer bag. Personally I prefer this. Bling is nice but I like getting other things I can actually use. Anyway, the bag is only the start! Staggering weary legged back up to the village hall about 100m from the finish, all competitors receive free food. This year it was a delicious chilli backed potato! There is also an enormous spread of free sandwiches and hundreds of homemade cakes, biscuits and fruit. Tea, coffee, water and squash is all complimentary... but that’s not all! Comllimentary massages for all competitors is a really nice touch and something a lot of people take up. I had one and it was brilliant. They ask if there is a certain area you want them to work on (I had hamstrings) and then they work on each person for 15 minutes or so. There are collection buckets for local charities in the tea room (separate from the massages) but you are under no pressure to donate. There is also a pay as you go BBQ for non competitors which is very reasonably priced. For £18 you struggle to find a better value for money race. It was friendly, fun and a great way to spend the May bank holiday! My thanks go out to the organisers! Highly recommended!!!

Taking in not only Rutland but neighbouring Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire, the long route has almost 5000 feet of climbing.

Another quality event from ITP. A nice rolling route with some challenging climbs around the scenic Rutland water. Having done the ITP Lincoln GP sportives the last 2 years I'd hoped for an equally well organised event and wasn't disappointed. Straightforward registration, good food stops and well marshalled. Suspect I will do this one again in the future!
      • Did the event in 2017

It is only recently that I’ve completed my second long cycling event. I entered the Rutland Sportive as a build up to the Ironman. The course is 105 miles long but you have to cycle 2 miles to get to the start from the official car park, so I’m rounding that up to 109 (that’s crazy maths). I selected that one as the route looked very hilly and would be good training for the Ironman course. I’d competed in other events around Rutland so I knew that it would be lumpy, the locals refer to the hilly countryside in that area as the Rutland ripple. I figured doing some hill work over a long distance couldn’t be a bad thing.Aiming to avoid a bonk I decided to test my nutrition strategy. I’d just been on holiday and read a book by Vassos Alexander, radio sports presenter and self-confessed running addict. He mentioned making his own super food cake which had worked successfully for him over various long distance races, so I decided to follow suit. I’m not sure what his exact recipe was as it wasn’t in the book, but I ploughed on regardless by buying the essential ingredients of bananas, blueberries, eggs, peanut butter and avocado. I then made up the rest myself to add extra flavour. I was quite surprised when I made it that it actually tasted good so decided to take it along on the Sportive. It worked like a dream. I ate a couple of mouthfuls every 30 minutes, plus anything else I managed to pick up at the food stations dotted along the way. Bonk avoided. The course itself lived up to expectations. It was very undulating. A few days before the race a fellow Leicester Tri club member posted on the club forum that he had also entered the event and wanted to know if anyone else was going along. More than happy to have a riding mate I said I’d meet him at the start. I’d never met Lewis, or Coops as he’s known, before the race but it didn’t take long to realise that we were both coming at it from the same angle i.e. nothing too serious, but great to have some company on the way. I think he may have regretted meeting up at one point as he’d only signed up for the 75 mile version. I convinced him to go for the full distance after a couple of hours. I’d found out that he worked for the RAF and that he doing a charity bike ride from London to Paris later in the year to raise money for war veterans. The extra miles were not going to him any harm in preparing for that.It was a great day out. The weather was pretty kind to us, sunny with very little wind. I felt pretty good throughout and went well up the (multiple) hills. Apart from the obligatory sore backside from hours sat on a saddle, I had no ill effects from the ride or my cobbled together cake. The nutrition side went smoothly and my legs weren’t demolished. I don’t know whether I could have run a marathon straight after but I didn’t think it was an impossible task either. Job done. Coops and I went on our separate ways and it was another box ticked in my Ironman preparation.

This event continues to grow from strength to strength. With nearly a thousand runners across all distances last year, it is sure to be a great day of running. This year we are delighted that we are sponsored by both the Market Harborough Building Society and the Training Shed, St. Mary's Road.

I had ran a number of short distance races and it was time to tackle a half marathon distance again. I was hoping to complete it in sub 90 minutes but didn’t quite make it (92 minutes in the end).It was still an enjoyable race; it was well supported as it was the same day as Market Harborough Carnival.

Nice course and good drinks stations, great support too. Only downside were the shower facilities at the school were locked at the start even though they were meant to be available. Marshalls weren’t able to help either.

This is the fourth time I have run this half marathon and I have to say, this was the best year yet! The earlier start time, and cooler weather made for ideal running conditions. This year saw the addition of a 5km race, and together with the fun run, meant there really was something for everyone.Registation was easy, with the option of collecting your race number and timing chip in the weeks before, or registering on the day. The clear pre-race information email covered everything from parking to water stops. The course is varied, starting in the town, with the support of the carnival crowds, and leading out through the villages to quieter country lanes. There were plenty of amazing marshals  along the route with some traffic control measures at road crossing points. The route is undulating, with a nice hill towards the end for both the 10km and half marathon routes, followed by a gradual downhill towards the finish show ground.  A free massage was on offer for competitors. Overall a well organised, friendly and enjoyable run, with some challenging parts - thank you Race Harborough

The Summer Wolf Run takes place at one of the most epic venues the UK has to offer. It has all the ingredients for the ideal off-road obstacle course and with the after-party and camping it certainly has the best atmosphere too!

The National Water Sports Centre is the perfect venue for testing yourself on a perfectly flat course where the tempo is high and the competition is fierce (and friendly!)

Whether youre an experienced athlete looking for a fast time over the sprint distance, or youre a novice competitor looking for a safe and friendly venue for your first open water triathlon, then the Nottingham Triathlon is the perfect event.

The arena type venue with an overlooking grandstand, blaring PA, electric atmosphere and big crowds will push you beyond what you think you're capable of. Whether it is your first triathlon or you are trying to qualify for the national Age-Group squad, we guarantee you will enjoy the fully closed road-circuit style race and the extra support that brings with it.

The swim takes place in the regatta lake, with a simple out and back course, followed by four laps of the perimeter lake on the bike. Dont forget the wind, which can push you back one way, but also propel you at high speeds in the opposite direction. The run covers on and off road sections before taking you past the cheering grandstand to the finishing line.

This fantastic venue offers camping and ample car-parking, making it the perfect event to bring the family to, as they'll get to see you swim, bike and run as well as have the opportunity to enjoy the park environment and various activities on site. There are two main cafes on site, changing and shower facilities and very easy access to Nottingham city centre just two miles down the road.

my second time at Nottingham sprint and this year it was an ETU qualifier, so Everyman and his disc wheel and pointy helmet was here. The water was lovely and warm, perfect conditions. The organisers do a fantastic job and the set up Is fabulous. The bike course is 4 laps of the 2k lake, so just under 20k. Closed roads, flat and straight...don’t forget to save something in the tank for the 1 loop 5k run of the lake before hitting the red carpet finish.

I first raced this event in 2015 as a qualifier and enjoyed the event. The field was much smaller with it not being a qualifier this year, shame as its a great event and run well (like all OSB events).  OSB events always run smoothly and are well organised which is exactly what you want on race day. Swim was chilly (about 14 degrees), one large loop and nice wave sizes so there wasnt as much violence in the swim as most open water swim starts. The bike was 4 laps round the lake, surface isnt great but its still a nice fast flat circuit. The run is a flat and fairly fast but draining when you feel like your not getting closer to the finish as you can see it for almost all the 5km run as its one lap round the lake. Nice atmosphere and the event was run smoothly start to finish despite the awful weather. Also a great event for spectators as you get to see all the swim, 4 times on the bike and can see on the run so get to watch most the race. Would recommend to all ability athletes.
