This 10k road race is based at the Norfolk Snowsports Club in Whitlingham Lane, Trowse on the southern outskirts of Norwich. Competitors run beside Whitlingham Broad before following a two-lap route along quiet roads through the heart of Trowse and close to Whitlingham Hall. This race has become a real value-for-money event, with beautiful scenery and great viewing opportunities for supporters and spectators.
As the light draws in and the evenings get shorter, youll want to get out on the bike when you can. The Wiggle Royal Flyer is the perfect autumn sportive taking in the Royal Sandringham Estate in Norfolk and the tree-lined avenues around it, allowing you to charge through the autumnal leaves on the ground before crossing the finish line for a well-earned end-of-season break.
Setting off from the event centre on Fakenham Racecourse, this sportive starts off with a few gentle climbs as riders will head east and roll through the pretty villages of Guist and Hindrigham, and onto the equally-appealing St Marys Benedictine Priory and Binham.
Staying inland, youll continue westwards on this typically flat section of east England heading through South Creake, Stanhoe and Docking. A feed station gives riders chance to catch their breath before the route enters the grounds of the Sandringham Estate, which always looks grand in autumnal colours.
Only a short ride then separates you from the royal grounds and a finishers medal back in Fakenham, passing the Royal Stud and continuing on back lanes through Anmer, East Rudham and Helhoughton. The short climbs on the Wiggle Royal Flyer may test untrained legs but this should be a welcome challenge for more seasoned riders to get a fast sportive time in the bag before turning to the turbo for winter.
Sportive Cross is our mixed terrain event series thats designed with cyclocross and adventure road bikes in mind. Theyre an ideal way to add some extra interest to your riding especially over the winter months not only helping to keep you fit but also great for testing your bike handling skills. You can expect roughly a 50:50 mix of road and off road sections on the local bridleway or byways and with this ride weve pretty much managed to tick the full list of terrains featuring everything from smooth tarmac to gravel, grass, sand and mud sections.
Starting from High Lodge in the heart of Thetford Forest the route initially joins our road sportive before splitting off through Wangford and Lakenheath Warren to pick up our first of several sections on the Icknield Way. The route continues south onto out first feed stop near West Stow Country Park before we start to wind our way back to the finish, first skirting the edge of The Kings Forest then another section of the Ickneild Way bringing us to our second and final feed stop near Knettishall Heath Country Park. From here youve got another couple of off road sections, the longest through Croxton Heath, before joining the riders on our road sportive routes for a final blast along the roads back to the finish.
100km cycling event starting from Carlton Colville, nr Lowestoft, Suffolk. Controls at Loddon, plus 2 information controls.
This ride initially goes through many narrow, quiet and pretty lanes through the Waveney vslley taking in quiet and picturesque villages. If you perceive all East Anglia as completely flat, you might be surprised
how undulating the Waveney valley is. That said, the hills are short and hardly major feats but you might be a little surprised by the steepness of one or two of them. There are some surprisingly nice views from the top of the hills. After leaving the Waveney valley the route crosses into south Norfolk, which is flatter but sill through pleasant lanes and villages. The control at Loddon is opposite the river and is pleasant. After the second information control it is back into Suffolk and the district of Waveney just west of the pleasant market town of Beccles. Hope I've persuaded you to enter! If entering by post ONLY ONE reply envelope required as card can be signed and returned on finishing
Join us for our penultimate event of 2018 and clock up some winter miles before we head into the festive period.
Starting from High Lodge in the heart of Thetford Forest we head south through Elvedon and skirt around RAF Honington, before heading back to base past Thetfords Devils Mere. Its a relatively flat course that features a few undulations along the way but no significant climbs so a great opportunity to work on your winter base fitness, end the year on a high and set you up nicely for the year ahead.
As with all RIDE IT events, there will be varying distances to choose from, as well as hot food and drink to warm you up when you return
The Turkey Trot is an undulating 10-mile road race visiting small villages on the edge of the Waveney Valley through the picturesque and rural Suffolk countryside, on country roads.
