Starting and finishing in Keswick, participants will set off along a waymarked path through mountain fells, past breathtaking lakes, and through all 13 Valleys of the Lake District National Park.
There will be regular feed stations and checkpoints along the way. The 13 Valleys is open to experienced ultra runners on a qualification basis only.

Approximately 100k in length, the 7 Valleys route takes on 7 of the 13 valleys. The route starts in Waterhead, Ambleside and finishes in Keswick, but incorporates an additional loop of the central valleys. There will be regular feed stations and checkpoints along the way.

5 Valleys - 60k

Medical Cover
Approximately 60k in length, the 5 Valleys takes on just under half the total valleys in the area. Starting in Waterhead and finishing in Keswick, runners will follow the fully marked route and stop at regular checkpoints along the way to stay fuelled.

Bus Transfer Service
For 7 Valleys and 5 Valleys participants, a bus service will be available from Keswick to Waterhead for the 7 Valley and 5 Valley distances for an additional fee of £15 per person.

What to bring
Mandatory Kit List
  • A good quality backpack
  • Spare warm clothing to include base layers and leggings
  • Gloves and hat (neck warmers do not count)
  • Food for an emergency. The route will be fully stocked with both hot and cold food, but pack small amounts of emergency energy food of at least 400 calories
  • Collapsible cup (200ml), must be able to use for a hot drink
  • Off-road shoes that can withstand wet weather. No road running trainers will be allowed
  • Map (waterproof) and compass (handheld, not watch or phone)
  • Whistle
  • Mobile phone (smartphone) fully charged
  • Water Bottles / Water pack – 1 Litre min capacity

Final kit list requirements will be sent to participants closer to the event date. There will be cold weather and hot weather plans in place should the weather require it, including but not limited to a lightweight fleece or down jacket for cold weather, and a cap and sun cream for hot weather.
How old do I need to be to enter the 13 Valleys?
All participants must be aged 20 or over at the time of the event taking place, in order to enter the 13 Valleys, 7 Valleys or 5 Valleys events, and aged 17 or over at the time of the event to enter the 2 Valleys Trail.
Where does the 13 Valleys start?
The 13 Valleys (180k) and the 2 Valleys Trail start and finish in Keswick, while the 5 Valleys and 7 Valleys routes start at Waterhead, Ambleside and finish in Keswick.
What do I need to bring to the 13 Valleys?
There is a detailed kit list available on this page which entrants must bring to the event. There will be mandatory kit checks for all entrants before the race starts.
