Route information
Water Type: Lake swim
Route Type: Looped
Half-Mile Swim
This popular Swim Serpentine event takes in half a lap of the world-famous lake in London’s Hyde Park. It's the perfect option if you’re looking to complete an achievable but memorable swim at your own pace, or making the transition from the pool to open water!
One-Mile Swim
The mile is a classic distance in the world of open water swimming! Our one-mile swim covers one full lap of the famous Serpentine lake, which is the same course as the London 2012 Olympic Marathon Swimming event – so you’ll be following in the swim strokes of some of the world’s top open water swimmers.
Two-Mile Swim
If you’re a more experienced open water swimmer who is keen to take on a challenge within the beautiful grounds of Hyde Park, the two-mile distance is for you! This event will see you swim two full laps of the Serpentine lake, making it the ideal option if you've already completed a one-mile swim outdoors and are looking to build on your distance.
Super Six
The Super Six at Swim Serpentine offers experienced open water swimmers the chance to swim six miles on this iconic London lake in Hyde Park. If you love the camaraderie of outdoor swimming events but want to test yourself over a longer distance, this is the event for you! The Super Six challenge is limited to 100 swimmers, making it a really special event.

I enjoyed the event but it was an early start in the centre of London, so coming from outside of London it was challenging to make my allocated wave time. As I was in the first half ave on Saturday there was less people around and the atmosphere hadn't reached its peak. The other thing is there was not much there to keep me interested once I had finished my swim. It was a great opportunity for more interaction from staff team on the day as there was less people at that time.

There was speculation around blue green algae prior to the event. Following the event, withing a couple of hours, I experienced stomach cramps and diarrhea which lasted another couple of hours. I am am experienced triathlete and drunk a can of coca cola immediately after the event. But on this occasion it did not settle my stomach which makes we suspicious of the water quality.

It was my first time at Serpentine, its great that its so popular but I would say the waves need to be divided into smaller numbers as its very hard to avoid going into other swimmers. It was a great event all the staff very friendly and welcoming, great job.

I loved this event I only starting swimming properly less than 3 yrs ago and only really started swimming open water in April 2019 This was my biggest sporting challenge ever and for me my scariest but once at the event my nerves began to ease a little seeing all the other competitors and once in the water it was great. My only small criticism would be that there was no where to fill my water bottle other than that a brilliant event
