This trail race starts and finishes at the impressive Anderton Boat Lift, also known as the Cathedral of the Canals since it sits in between the River Weaver and the Trent and Mersey Canal. There are plenty of activities nearby, so it is a great opportunity for a family day out.

Anderton Boat Lift 10K & 1 Mile Fun Run routes

The undulating trail route starts and finishes at the Boat Lift, which is a spectacular feat of Victorian engineering, between the River Weaver and the the Trent and Mersey Canal. The course takes you around the trails of the Country Park, finishing with a challenging incline.

There will be 2 feed stations along the route.

Please note that 10K runners must be 18 years or over. The Fun Run is open to those of all ages, although adults must run with young children.

Raceday Logistics

Address: Anderton Boat Lift Lift Lane, Anderton, Northwich, Cheshire, CW9 6FW

Registration:

Follow signs from the main carpark – entry is free to the boat lift grounds. Registration will be in the big Marquee in the Boat Lift Grounds, where you will collect your Race Number and Timing Chip.

Timings:

  • 08:00am: Registration Opens
  • 10:00am: Fun Run Starts
  • 10:30am: 10K Starts
Spectators

There are a range of activities to do during or after the race. There is a visitors' shop and Cafe (Tree Top Coffee Shop), as well as an Exhibition Area and a brand new Play Area.

Can I enter on the day?

It is possible if there are entries available, but please note that this event sold out in 2018 and 2019.

Are dogs allowed?

Please note only assistance dogs are allowed in the boat lift grounds.

Are there toilets?

Yes, there are toilets available near registration in the Boat Lift Main Building.

    It was well organised but all the pre-race announcements on the microphone were unintelligible.
    Good course, well signed and marshalled. The last section is a sharp uphill incline which is tough!
