Route information
This open-water water will take you clockwise through Derwent bay, towards Derwent Island. Swimmers will experience the beauty of Derwentwater and its surrounding views of Catbells, Skiddaw and the Borrowdale Valley.
You will start in deep-water, swimming across to the shores of Derwent Isle, before swimming clockwise alongside its shores overlooked by the historic Island. Finish under the gantry back at the Festival base with an excited crowd ready to cheer you home.
The water temperature for this event will be between 10°C – 14°C and you should prepare yourself accordingly.

Please note that there is parking available at the campsite and this is included in the ticket price.
Keswick Rugby Club is the official car park for this event, situated a short 5-minute walk to the Festival site. Parking for this car park is ticketed and must be booked in advance when booking your entry for this race. The opening times for this car park are as follows:
- Friday 20 May - 07:00-23:00
- Saturday 21 May - 06:30-23:00
- Sunday 22 May - 05:00-17:00

This swim is open to swimmers aged 18 and over.
Aid Stations
Please be aware that this event is fully self-supported, meaning you must carry any water or fuel with you on the hike.
On-Site Facilities
There will be toilets available at the festival village, as well as various food and drink refreshments.
Event Rules
KMF swims will operate under British Triathlon Rules with regards to water temperature and the wearing of wetsuits. Under these rules the water temperature must be 14°C before wetsuits become optional, you are required to abide by these rules, which can be viewed here. The exception to these rules is that we will allow the wearing of gloves or boots whatever the water temperature.
