The Course
There will be an epic course in and around Nene Park and the surrounding area. With kind permission from Castor, Alwalton, Wansford and Yarwell parish Council and local landowners you will be able to use all the epic paths and trails around their beautiful land and villages.
The swimming for the Juniors and the 5k solo race is in the beautiful Gunwade Lake, the 10k solo race is in Gunwade Lake and the River Nene with easy entry and exit points. The run sections are predominantly flat, off road with tracks, field and compact trail. A great newcomers course.
The first half of the 21k is more demanding with up and downstream river sections and heads out through woods and tracks with naturally occurring obstacles. The running is more undulating and has a couple of quiet road sections before it joins the 10k course for the 2nd half of the race.
The 39k heads out along the Nene basin towards Wansford with some demanding upstream swimming and flat trail running. This is a stunning course taking in the best Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire offers in scenery and river swimming. With just a couple of short road sections this course is predominantly track and trail running. It joins the 10k course to finish on the lake.

The run sections in all races are predominately flat with naturally occurring obstacles

Cut offs
There will be cut offs. We base our cut off on a 15 minute mile run pace and a 3 minute 100m swim pace, we also allow time for entry and exit into the water, upstream swimming and up hill running. Backpack
Kit List
Mandatory equipment each participant must have
  • A pressure bandage in waterproof packaging. Wetsuit if water temperature is below 14 degrees Celsius Whistle. Soft cup or water bladder. Optional
  • Hip pack or something to carry the mandatory equipment
Mandatory equipment for Junior 12 to 13 years
  • Wetsuit if water temperature is below 14 degrees celsius Whistle Soft cup Adult over 18 Mandatory equipment that the organisation will supply
  • Swimcap. You may have entered the same distance race with us before and if you have the appropriate colour swimcap from one of our previous events then please reuse it. Race number leg bands must be worn on the right leg with the number facxing outward. Swimcap must be worn during all the swims
We understand that in the shorter races, a bandage, whistle and a cup may seem pointless but these races are not without risk. It is good practice to carry the equipment as you will need to in longer races. You may not need assistance but someone else on the course may, your whistle is essential to attract attention. At the end of the race we have a water dispenser, not plastic bottles, you will need your cup to get a drink.
Equipment check
Before the race there will be random kit checks.
Equipment that is NOT allowed
Floatation devices that are bigger than 100 cm x 60 cm.

Excellent course , brilliant organisation Great event company Recommend to anyoneAll it needs is a bit more if a event village feel to the start and finish- but that may spoil the chilled swim run atmosphere so it is a tough callWill race again at Nene Park , already booked for Bewl this year

I would like to extend my great thanks for putting on such a wonderful Swimrun event last weekend. It was a fantastic yet challenging course staying true to the swimrun ethos of being closer to nature. The marshalling was top notch and I felt very safe throughout with the waymarkings being clear. The swim exits were a particular highlight with ropes and climbs adding to the course details. Brilliant event!

This was a fantastic event, the course was clearly marked out, and well marshalled, the lake was lovely and warm, and clear before we all started wading into it! The support paddlers were friendly, close enough to give a feeling of safety, but not intrusively so. Very easy to get to and plenty of on-site parking.
