From Fun Run to Marathon, we welcome all ages and abilities - we really are For All. Run For All is part of the lasting legacy of the late amateur athlete and fundraiser Jane Tomlinson CBE. Jane, from Leeds, made headlines around the world by taking part in a series of incredible endurance events - despite being diagnosed with an incurable cancer. The mum-of-three defied her devastating diagnosis to complete challenge after challenge – from marathons and triathlons to ironman contests and cross-Europe cycle rides. Her final – and toughest – endeavour was a 4,200-mile bike ride across the breadth of America in 2006. It was a gruelling challenge that even an athlete in the peak of fitness would find daunting, let alone someone fighting cancer. As ever, though, Jane battled on to somehow realise her goal. Every year tens of thousands of people take part in our popular events – running for charity, for a personal challenge or just for fun.

The Asda Foundation City of Lincoln 10k is one of Lincolnshire’s most popular and picturesque charity road run events. This event has something to offer to everyone, regardless of age or ability.

The route is flat and fast, perfect for seasoned runners looking to smash a PB! Whilst, the electric atmosphere sparked around the City and striking scenery can be enjoyed everyone.

Did the 10k in 2019
Normally this is a wonderful 10k, bit of a let down this year. Still OK but whoever was in charge of runner control at the start it was clearly their first 10k, and are probably in the crowd barrier rental business, either that or it was rent 1 get 4 free. Barriers everywhere. Access to the starting pens was limited to the point of being dangerous with only one narrow access point. The East side of the pens was totally fenced off for 2019 with absolutely no access. As the level of crowding increased eventually runners climbed over or shifted barriers to gain safe access. After a frustrating start the crowning glory was a bottle neck in the first 250 metres, runners at a standstill for 90 seconds, again simply down to over enthusiastic or inexperienced barrier planning, not sure about the logic of funnelling 2 lanes into 1 other than spare barrier storage. Same scenario at the finish, runners backing up narrow streets further narrowed with more barriers. Hopefully after works are complete the finish will be by the Cathedral and the Event Village will return to the Castle grounds. More importantly race and crowd control will have completed a course in fluid dynamics. Other than that a top day.

Did the 10k in 2019
Oh dear, the start was hectic before we were able to start. Stuck in crowds of people with the same sim of trying to get to their starting points but not enough room or openings to enter or pass people trying to go the opposite way. Once we were off we were soon at a stand still. Why? Narrowing of the road and letting the few elite runners pass making the majority of the race wait. I have run six races in the past six months run by smaller organisations who made the races run smoother. The volunteers were as ever the stats of the show who are encouraging and helpful. Massive thank you to them. Waiting Collect bags, T-shirts and medals was terrible, we all got cold, cramped and felt like cattle. Sorry but I will think twice about running this one again, such a shame as its my home city and other races have put this one to shame. Again thank you volunteers. Xx

Did the 10k in 2018
Good race, well organised and very well supported. Route was a little boring considering it is in such a historic city. Did enjoy the finish at the Cathedral and the event village in the castle grounds though. Free parking and shuttle buses back to the car parks was fantastic.

Age Requirements

Entrants must be 15 and over to enter the 10k. Children between 2-8 entering the fun run must be accompanied by a paying adult, but children 9-17 can run alone.

How to get there

Riseholme Rd, Lincoln LN1, UK

By Foot

The start is on Riseholme Road and the finish is near Lincoln Cathedral. The Event Village is in Lincoln Castle. Walkers can access the venue from any direction, irrespective of road closures.

By Train

Regular services run to Lincoln Railway Station.

Parking

With thousands of runners heading to the city, the roads approaching Lincoln are likely to be busier than usual; please leave plenty of time for your journey.

Parking locations will be allocated to individual bib numbers:

1 – 6000: Yarborough Leisure Centre Playing Fields, Breedon Drive, LN1 3XA

6001 + Sudbrooke Drive Playing Field, LN2 2DS

Please note Burton Road will be closed from 9.10am so you will not be able to access parking after this time and Riseholme Road will be closed from 5.30am but the lane to enter this carpark will remain open.

The drop-off point for participants is at The Lincoln Imp just off Riseholme Road and Scopwick Place located on Blankney Crescent and at postcode: LN2 2EW
