Some highlights of the route:

- The flattest marathon course in the UK - flatter than London, Edinburgh, New York, Chicago and many others

- Perfect PB course

- The race village situated at Emirates Old Trafford, the home of Lancashire County Cricket Club, on the car park in front of the pavilion.

- The race will start on the A56 near the White City roundabout, a short walk from the race village at Emirates Old Trafford

- Awesome entertainment and support along the course - see the comments page to hear what our runners said

- The route will be held entirely on closed, main roads

- More of the route in Altrincham where the crowd support was amazing

- We have a new 8m wide finish outside Emirates Old Trafford, Lancashire County Cricket Club (LCCC) on Talbot Road

At our 2017 event 86% of the top 50 recorded a PB or SB and 50% of the top 250 got a PB. This race is YOUR best chance to get a marathon PB!

Event really well organised. Pack sent a couple of weeks in advance, with all the info you might need.On the day, it was easy to get into the starting pens and there were pacers in each pen. Lots of water stations along the route, which was REALLY flat! And the atmosphere was just great - the crowds were amazing and definitely added to the experience. I think it was the perfect option for my first marathon!

Well organised from start to finish, but unfortunately the course is super boring and the atmosphere lacking except for at a couple of key points going around the course.
  • Did the Marathon in 2019

This was my fourth year in a row running this race and I love it. Great almost flat course, good organisation and good support most of the way.

  • Did the Marathon in 2019

It was a great atmosphere. The warm up and commentary was inspirational and fun. My grievance with the event was the litter in particular the plastic bottles. This use of single use bottles can't continue and the event needs to address this problem.

Manchester was my first marathon and i wasnt disappointed. I was totally buzzing the whole weekend. It was a very well organised event. I love crossing the start line to a pumping Blue Monday by New Order. The crowds were a great support. The only downside was the course was a bit dull in sections (and may be too flat!!) but the route is changing to go through the city centre next year. I really appreciated a very tasty free alcohol-free pint of beer at the end which tasted like proper booze. Good to have the start & finish cameras on You Tube so you can check how ridiculous you look later.
  • Did the Marathon in 2019

Fantastic did this as my first marathon and signed up 3 weeks before, race pack arrived before the race. Pricey compared to other marathons but the crowds were fantastic Only criticism was the toilet queue prior to and it was not clear whether there were more in pens so everyone queued and first ones so 40 mins and anxiety about missing start
