Raceday Logistics

1) Bag Drop – If you are planning on using the Bag Drop at Emirates Old Trafford we politely ask that you only bring a small back pack or gym bag containing race day essentials. Please leave plenty of time to drop your bag before race start. Upon arrival you will be directed to one of several drop and collection points and you will be given a wristband which you must wear throughout the race and which you will use to collect your bag after the race.

2) Start Time – The official race start time is 09:00 with a mass start. Your start area is colour coded which is labelled on your race number. You can decide within the area, where you would like to stand. If you are unsure, stand towards the back of the pen. If you feel you may be running slower than your estimated finish times, you can drop back into a slower start area.

3) The Start Line – The location of the start line is under the arch at White City Way on the A56. Please allow enough time to make way to the start area and for your pre-race preparations because from the Athletes Village it will take around 15 minutes to walk to the start area and the route will be clearly signposted.

4) Toilets- There are 170 toilets located on Brian Statham Way for both spectators and runners. Additionally, there are 5 toilets located at each drinks station on the course. Disabled toilets can be found on Brian Statham Way. Please refer to the Race Information Pack for maps and more information.

5) Timing- The race is run according to the chip time, and your own time will be calculated from when you cross the start mat. There are a number of mats on the course to cross check your times. It may take up to 15 minutes to pass the start line, but please be re-assured your chip time will not start until you pass the start line.

POST-EVENT

  • Did the Marathon in 2019

Event really well organised. Pack sent a couple of weeks in advance, with all the info you might need.On the day, it was easy to get into the starting pens and there were pacers in each pen. Lots of water stations along the route, which was REALLY flat! And the atmosphere was just great - the crowds were amazing and definitely added to the experience. I think it was the perfect option for my first marathon!
  • Did the Marathon in 2017

Well organised from start to finish, but unfortunately the course is super boring and the atmosphere lacking except for at a couple of key points going around the course.
  • Did the Marathon in 2019

This was my fourth year in a row running this race and I love it. Great almost flat course, good organisation and good support most of the way.
  • Did the Marathon in 2019

Fabulous. Course was great atmosphere brilliant. Will do bit again in future. Well dome to the organisers og this event
  • Did the Marathon in 2019

It was a great atmosphere. The warm up and commentary was inspirational and fun. My grievance with the event was the litter in particular the plastic bottles. This use of single use bottles can't continue and the event needs to address this problem.
  • Did the Marathon in 2019

Fantastic day, extremely well organised. The route was well sign posted way to navigate, atmosphere was one of the best I've experienced. I would definitely join again.
  • Did the Marathon in 2018

Did this last year and loved it the atmosphere was amazing so much support its a flat race and easier of the 8 marathon's if done over the years
  • Did the Marathon in 2019

Manchester was my first marathon and i wasnt disappointed. I was totally buzzing the whole weekend. It was a very well organised event. I love crossing the start line to a pumping Blue Monday by New Order. The crowds were a great support. The only downside was the course was a bit dull in sections (and may be too flat!!) but the route is changing to go through the city centre next year. I really appreciated a very tasty free alcohol-free pint of beer at the end which tasted like proper booze. Good to have the start & finish cameras on You Tube so you can check how ridiculous you look later.
  • Did the Marathon in 2019

Fantastic did this as my first marathon and signed up 3 weeks before, race pack arrived before the race. Pricey compared to other marathons but the crowds were fantastic Only criticism was the toilet queue prior to and it was not clear whether there were more in pens so everyone queued and first ones so 40 mins and anxiety about missing start
