Route information
The vast grounds of Balmedie Country Park play host to Scotland's one and only beach-based OCR. Participants can choose between tackling the 16k, or the even more challenging 32k Ultra Beach course. Both races are packed with extreme obstacles that will be sure to test your grit, wit, and your fortitude, both mental and physical.
Obstacles are set to take advantage of the unique surroundings, and include traversing the unique dune system, taking a dip in the chilly North Sea, among others where climbing, carrying, crawling, and wading are essential skills to complete the course.
Beach Ballistic is also one of only two World and European Championship Qualifying courses in Scotland. Competitors taking part in the 16k and 32k challenges will have the opportunity to qualify.
32k
The 32k course held on Saturday will be 2 laps of the 16k course. The course features 28 obstacles, all of which will have to be completed twice in the fastest time possible to qualify for the World Championships.
16k
The 16k course also held on Saturday will be 1 lap of the 28 obstacle course. There will be multiple start waves to account for varying speeds and abilities around the course.
8k
The 8k event is the perfect event for newcomers to OCR, or seasoned veterans looking to push their speed to the limit. This event will be held on Sunday, and is open to competitors 11+ years of age.
