Can we park near by?
Yes parking available at Christ College.
Can we sleep at HQ when we finish?
We would recommend booking a local B and B, hotel or campsite for your comfort. HQ will be very busy and noisy. If however you finish in the early hours of the morning (100 milers) you are ofcourse welcome to get some rest and refuel. Please consider this if you are driving – it is hugely important that you rest before driving – bear in mind the gravity of the race you are taking part in and factor this in to your race plan.

FAQs
road shoes?
Although the event is possible in ‘normal’ trainers it should be understood that the majority of the event is off-road. You might therefore sensibly want to consider trail shoes. However, it must be noted that the route is NOT completely fell orientated and for this reason fell shoes would NOT be considered the best choice.2.

Will my feet get wet?
Highly probable! Remember this is Wales, so a ‘bit of damp’ is highly likely. There are options (Goretex trainers or Sealskinz socks etc) that you might want to consider, however, this is probably only going to delay the inevitable – so just accept that your feet at some stage are likely to get wet!3. Will I need an amazing,
ChevronLeft
really expensive head torch?
In short; “No” …… BUT…. you will definitely require a head torch as part of the compulsory equipment and unless you really are a whippet you will almost certainly use it  Remember to have fresh batteries and also spare batteries with you –  these are also part of the compulsory kit list, so don’t turn up without either! If you are looking for a recommendation, the Petzl Tikka XP2 ticks all the boxes.4.

Do I need full waterproofs even though I never run in them?
“Yes” – This is the compulsory kit. The event takes place in the Welsh Mountains, so weather wise anything can happen! Even if you are the type that never runs in waterproofs there is always a slight risk that despite every attempt to ensure your safety, there is still an outside possibility that an ‘incident’ may occur. Should such a situation arise, the body can cool very quickly, particularly in adverse conditions, so please make sure you carry these even if you don’t intend to use them. Again for guidance, the Marmot Super Mica and the Montane Minimus are superb tops, whilst the Montane Minimus Pants are the most popular choice of leggings in recent times.5. What about hats, gloves, buffs etc.

?
For the same reasons as above, a suitable warm hat and gloves are the compulsory kit. Powerstretch products are ideal being both breathable and thermally very good.6. Do I need to bring a mobile phone /
ChevronLeft
will it work?
Although not compulsory, it might be wise to take one with you for your own personal peace of mind and safety.Closer to the time emergency numbers will be issued as part of your race pack for all competitors regardless of whether you have a phone or not. It should be understood that reception is patchy and some networks have a higher success rate than others. Climatic conditions on the day will also influence the degree of reception. 7.
ChevronLeft
Do we need maps for the event?
Copies of the relevant map extracts will be provided however we do recommend that you bring the relevant maps for the Brecon Beacons and Black mountains. Navigation seminars will be held prior to the event so worry not if your nav is not as good as it should be. Take this is an opportunity to get better at navigation.8.

Will Force 12 Events supply food?
There are no ‘shops’ on the route so don’t expect to buy anything anywhere. You should plan to take from the outset all your provisions for the day. Aid stations will be available with snacks and hot water which you can use for soup or dried meal. For our 50-mile athletes, soup and warm snacks will be available at the 26 mile CP.9.
ChevronLeft
Will Force 12 Events supply water?
You will need to start the day with full water rations; running water from the tap is available at the registration, so there are no excuses for starting this event dehydrated. There will be water available on the route at checkpoints approx. 10.
ChevronLeft
Will the Paramedics attend to my blisters and fix me up?
Your feet are your responsibility as are attending to other minor ailments or niggles, so make sure you have your first aid kit (compulsory kit) provisions for dealing with them. Tailor your compulsory first aid pack to suit your personal needs. The medical team will always be on hand to answer any questions and advise you.11.
ChevronLeft
Can we shower when we finish?
Yes, showers are available at HQ.12.
ChevronLeft
Will I be tracked?
Yes, we will follow your progress throughout. We have a Trailmed safety team who will be following your progress. Paramedics are also in attendance.
