Help Sport Relief raise life-changing money to fight poverty in the UK in this Beat Beethoven 5K around MediaCity. All are welcome to race around 5K as the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra play Beethoven's Fifth Symphony live, challenging racers to finish before the music, and "beat" Beethoven.

Beat Beethoven 5K - Media City, March route

Join hundreds of fellow runners challenging themselves to run 5K and "beat" Beethoven's Fifth Symphony, which the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra will be playing live, and lasts between 30-35 minutes.

The route will start and finish at MediaCityUK, and will be 2 laps of a fast and flat 2.5km route. The route will take you over the canal, past the Imperial War Museum, and the famous TV studios. It will be an open road race, and run on paths and pavements through the heart of Media City.

Please arrive at least 45 minutes before race time to ensure plenty of time for registration

Age Restrictions:

This event is open to over 18s only.


£10 of each ticket price will be donated to charity, and the remainder will cover the costs of the event. If you raise over £200 for the cause, you will receive an exclusive Beat Beethoven Bobble Hat.

Bag Drop:

There will be a secure area where you can leave your baggage. Your baggage tag will be attached to your race number, so simply tear it off and attach to your bag.


There will be portaloos onsite for runners to use.

Refreshments and Aid Stations:

There will be water provided on each lap of the race and at the finish.


Results will be available on after the race.


Spectators are more than welcome to come enjoy the sounds of the symphony at the event village. Since it is not a closed-road course, you are welcome to find a place to watch around the course, but please take note of the path of the runners.


Volunteers are a crucial component of race days and RunThrough are always looking for an extra pair of hands to help out. Volunteer roles often involve course marshalling, bag storage, or even handing out those prized finisher's medals.
