Bike4Bart – Meon Valley routes

This epic cycle ride starts at the Andrew Simpson Watersports Centre in Portsmouth, all three routes head out North towards Portsdown Hill for a quick leg burn that will warm your quads up nicely. Once you reach the top of Portsdown Hill be sure to take in the gorgeous views out over the Channel, on clear days you can even spot the Isle of Wight.

The route then turns downhill for a period as riders whip through quaint country villages leaving riders with their heart thumping and adrenaline pumping. Shortly after this riders will descend once more back towards the event village, so don't forget to take in the scenery one last time.

Andrew Simpson MBE died too early at the age of 36, in an accident on board the Artemis AC72 yacht in San Francisco Bay. Andrew, better known as ‘Bart’ to many in the sailing world, was a fine, accomplished sailor, a loving family man and an inspiration to many. Everything we do is driven by our belief that all young people have the ability to excel and succeed in life and work and that the challenges of Sailing and Watersports do this by promoting health and well-being and building essential personal skills.

I attended 2018 and 2019. Both were great days out for my young family. I really appreciated the things that ASF put on at base for the children on both occasions. The live music in 2019 was really good as well. I'm looking forward to see what they'll do in 2020.

A great day out on the bike and even the gale force winds (although impacting the Watersports sessions) didn't stop the bands and great family atmosphere at the festival arena: Frog bikes and local groups ran some great activities and the music was spot on!

Excellent challenging course, ample Marshall's and very good signage.
Could not fault any part of it and I fully support the B4B cause.
    Well done!

    Did the Short in 2019

We had a great time at Bike4Bart this year! We came down for the short route and then stayed for some food and drinks to congratulate ourselves. Can't wait for the event again next year!
  • Did the Middle Distance in 2018

This was a well organised event that had a great family festival atmosphere.
The staff were incredibly helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The family activities were great and mostly free. They really made an event to include all children and ensure they were involved and entertained.

Did the Middle Distance in 2019

We did this event on the back end of a hurricane! Sadly this meant that some people dropped out and attendance was lower than expected. That said - we had a great ride, the bands and food stands were really good and the event well run and managed. The Standard ride is a good challenge but really achievable. We'll be back next year!
  • Did the Long in 2019

It was a great experience to ride in such a fun environment! The course was great with very few cars. Despite very windy conditions it was a very fun event!

Once again amazing welcome and support from the maverick team. Loved the goodies at the end too. Always a bonus
