There was a diversion so the course was longer than a half marathon which in turn meant that the running time was not a true representation of our half marathon time

1st half and not as expected from the course. Sold as a good flat course but lots of small bridges/paths to go up and over, over 15. Diversion poor. Canal path overgrown quite a lot in parts. Despite being told to walk the tunnel a lot of people were running and complained at people walking. Poor signage in places, not enough Marshalls at key points. However water stations placed regularly and their Marshalls were superb, encouraging and happy to help. Most of the runners really friendly and encouraging too. Ordered medium t shirts for myself and husband and none left when we finishers which is really frustrating given we pay for it. Told all that was left which isn’t acceptable either. Pleased done it but wouldn’t recommend.

I Enjoyed the race and experience. But there is no atmosphere for almost the entire race, and where there was a diversion they should have also been a Marshall but wasn’t so runners were going in different directions with lack of signage.

My only moan was that there should have been a marshal on the old canal to stop people going wrong way as it wasn't very clear as the area is very rough

This was my first Half Marathon. I chose it because it was mostly flat. There are a few bridges along the way but it is mostly flat and for the majority of the course the terrain was good. I was in one of the last waves - 11am; by this time the there were very few people running and very few marshals on the course. I did wonder if someone had an accident it would be difficult to get help. The marshals were friendly and there were plenty of water stations. The medal, T-shirt and goodie bag were all great. I’d do the course again but wouldn’t recommend it to those who want crowds and an atmosphere.

Yes I enjoyed it and would definitely recommend the race to others who have not done this run before.I would recommend trail trainers or a strong pair of running shoes as the terrain can be varied along the towpaths.
