Train strike meant I was early other folk were late did mean had to let lot of fast men past on very narrow part of course surrounded by nettles but otherwise well organised appreciated water while waiting to start and along course didn’t need to carry a bottle which was great Could see baggage collection well organised Failed to get goody bag just medal and water distracted trying to find husband who hadn’t arrived Apparently some distance from end of course

A really unique chance to run alongside true canals. Highlights are the Cosely tunnel and a great place to finish in Birmingham amongst the pubs and canals of Brindley Place.A little confusing at the start as no one really stuck to the wave allocation that made it a little tricky as faster runners trying to get through in narrow sections was problematic. But, that aside, a fantastic race that I will be looking forward to running again.

I run those canal regularly so I know it’s gets hot! What needs to change (if possible) is the finish line is quite hidden and seems quiet so you can’t hear that your nearly there, then you turn a corner and see that you could have powered a bit more towards the finish.

The CRT could do with trimming back certain sections of the towpaths, they get overgrown at this time of year. Distributions of bags and t-shirts could be improved, at the busier times with a lot of people finishing the queue by the Malt House was rather long!

Some of the tress and pathways need to looked at and it possible to cross of the side of the canal after Dudley Port train station this is where the path is more clearer to run on.
