About
The Lake District is too perfect for swimrun for us to have only one event there, which is why we have returned for the newest addition to our UK series: Breca Coniston. Explore four of the most beautiful and imposing of the English lakes: Coniston Water, Windermere, Rydal Water and Grasmere. The course follows tracks and paths along valleys and over passes in the midst of splendid and varied Lakeland scenery.

Did the race in 2017
An epic race! I'd never done a swimrun before but given my love of trail running was really keen to give one a try, despite my swimming being a little bit rusty. I had admired the Breca events for a while, all the photos looked so amazing! It did not disappoint, this stunning course through the Lake District, crossing four different lakes and 42 km of trails was an awesome day out. If you have a partner that's a stronger swimmer than you (like I did), make sure you tie yourselves together during the swim (like I did not), you'll both make it through the race faster! The temperature in October in the Lake District can drop a little, so I'd go for a slightly thicker wetsuit if possible (mine was definitely better suited to summer swimruns!). After a 7 and half slog, I was pretty thrilled to arrive at the pub, and the hot showers were absolutely amazing. Thanks Ben and the team for an awesome event - I'll be back for another soon.
