Route information
Super sprint (Try a tri)
The Super sprint distance race will consist of a 200 m pool swim, a 24.4 km bike, and 3 km run.
200 metres in the swimming pool will consist of 8 lengths of the 25 metre pool.
The bike section leaves the leisure centre and heads through Skilling and out through Salway Ash, we pass through Netherbury before heading back to Bridport, with the countryside for company and Dorset's beautiful villages to cycle through, it's not a testing a ride.
The run is 3 km and will head up into Bridport before heading back to the leisure centre through the surrounding football pitches and parks.
Sprint
The Sprint Distance race will consist of a 400 m pool swim, a 24.4 km bike, and a 4.65 km run.
The bike section leaves the leisure centre and heads out the area on a flat and fast course into some of Dorset's most beautiful and quiet villages. The route is an out and back, and is a quick bike leg, it has a few tests on the out portion but coming back is all down hill.
The run is to West Bay and 2.5 km back on a different route, there are a couple of spots where you run on the same bit twice, just near the start and end of the run.
Team Sprint
The Team Sprint sees one member from each team complete one discipline.
The first member starts off by swimming 400m and then runs out to tag the cyclist. The second member of the team continues on with a 25km bike ride and on their return the cyclist tags the runner who goes on to finish the event with a 5k run.
Each member of the team must pass along the timing chip when they tag their team member.
Duathlon
The Duathlon event will consist of just under a 3 km run, a 24.42 km bike, and a 4.65 km run.
The duathlon will start just after the first wave of swimmers has started at 08:00 and will consist of:
Run- Your first run will leave the leisure centre and is a relatively simple loop around the parks adjacent to the Bridport football club, its a nice run that follows the river Brit and should be either traffic free or very light on a May Sunday morning.
Bike- The bike section leaves the leisure centre and heads out the area on a flat and fast course into some of Dorset's most beautiful and quiet villages. The route is an out and back, and is a quick bike leg, it has a few tests on the out portion but coming back is all down hill, this course is fast and flying and again takes place on very traffic light roads.
Run- Your second run will head from the leisure centre on a different route to the first run and is to West Bay along the footpaths at West Bay we do a small loop and head back to Transition following the old railway line, it's not concrete but nor is it a difficult surface to run on, there is a small incline as the path leads up to Bridport, but after this it's pretty much all down hill to the finish.
Tri Stars (Junior)
This event is open to anyone aged 16&U. This one is all about taking part, if you want to stop or rest at any point feel free to do so. We want to encourage the younger athletes to take part whatever their ability. Juniors will be in full view for all of the event making it great for family and friends to watch from the sidelines.
More information
The transition area is located just outside the leisure centre pool doors, it's 10 metres from the changing rooms, and we would ask that after you have racked your bike you park in the Football club car park, this will ensure enough space for the leisure centre to stay open during the event (It's free to park).
