Broughton Castle Cycling Sportive routes

The extremely well signed 'figure of eight' course takes in several classic climbs of the area including Nebsworth Lane, Snowshill and Butlers Lane but is also full of smaller notoriously leg sapping Cotswold lumps and bumps which the area is famous for in the cycling world.

This one really is for the serious cyclist. Total Climb 7,500 ft. It's recommended that you train for this ride in order to complete the distance.

Timing - for the best 5 hours, for the indefatigable 8 - 10 hours.

The route has been designed to incorporate several classic hill climbs including Nebsworth Lane climb near Illmington, before looping through Moreton in Marsh for the feed-station located at Cotswold Cycles shop.

This route is designed for the more regular cyclist who is accustomed to riding more challenging and hilly terrain. There will be a well stocked feed-station on this route at 30 miles.

This well designed and testing ride weaves through quiet country lanes and you should expect it to take somewhere between 3 and 5 hours.

There are no really big hills on this route )we promise), but by the nature of the terrain it will be a challenge if you've not done much cycling before.

The course winds its way through the Cotswold villages of Shutford and Epwell.

The event is not a race but all participants will receive electronic timing and have a Gold, Silver and Bronze timing standard to aim for. The route will be extremely well marked and easy to follow and will take the hassle out of planning the ride.

Family Fun

A flat(ish) family friendly route starts within the courtyard of the castle and then leads over the moat and then follows a quiet road and then a grass track which leads back to the castle. If the ride is a bit too bumpy along the grass track then just walk along this section and enjoy the stunning views across the rolling Cotswold hills.

On returning to Broughton Castle all riders will receive a well deserved medal and post event refreshments will be on sale plus entertainment for the whole family to enjoy while relaxing in the Castle grounds.
