Famed for its iconic landmarks, immense scenery and runnable hills, the trails and fells of the Calderdale Way is a favourite among runners and walkers from the North of England. It offers stunning views and takes on the best parts of the Pennine Way.

You may have experienced parts of the course in The Calderdale Way Relays, or perhaps it's part of your favourite training runs - up to Stoodley Pike for example. Be one of the few runners to complete the full Calderdale Way route in one go in our 50.5 mile Ultra-marathon.

Competing as either solo, pairs, or teams of 4 (new feature !!) pairs or teams of 4 can be made up of any gender combination and multiple clubs. the race is great for charity challenges or to complete something out of the ordinary with club/team mates.

The 50.5 mile option also carries 4 points towards the Ultra Trail du Mont-Blanc®.

The 28.5 mile option is a great introduction for runners looking to make the step-up into running and competing in Ultra-marathons. For those familiar with the Calderdale Way Relay, its basically legs 6,1 & 2 combined. Why not use your knowledge of the legs to compete in an Ultra Marathon?

The 28.5 mile option also carries 2 points towards the Ultra Trail du Mont-Blanc®.

When do I get my race number?

Race numbers, maps and timing chips are to be collected by each runner at registration in Belholme Sports Park (set back off Rochdale Road) in Todmorden, OL14 6XA. Ultra runners are advised to register 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Friday 31st May. Those that cannot make this registration can register 5:00 – 5:15 am on Saturday. Marathon runners can register at Race HQ 9:00 – 10:30 am on Saturday.

Is there a minimum age to participate?

Yes, you have to be over 20 to participate.

Can I enter on the day?

No entries on the day, this event takes a lot of planning to keep runners safe. Th event needs to know who is taking part well in advance of race day.

Can I change the Ultra race to the Marathon race?

Please be aware that you cannot switch between races, the event starts to incur costs as soon as you enter, these costs multiply many times if people are allowed to switch events. For safety reasons, we need to be clear who is doing which event.

Can I have a refund if I withdraw?

There is a cut off date for a partial refund, please see the event terms and conditions to learn if you qualify.

What time do I need to arrive on race day?

Please visit the website to find your meeting, transport and start times. Arriving late will only add to the pre race nerves!

Can I park anywhere?

There is limited car parking on the Campsite at the Race HQ. There will be marshals on hand to direct you where to park on race day. There are also several car parks in the centre of Todmorden. You must park legally, safely and responsibly, we want to keep our good relationship with the people of Todmorden!

Is there anywhere to leave my kit?

You can leave your kit in the Race HQ baggage area.

Is the course marked and marshalled?

There were hundreds of new way markers placed on course for the 2016 race. The route is a much loved and well-trodden local way but it would be impossible to marshal every turn on a 52.8-mile course. So please recce the route or be competent at map reading.

Is it compulsory to carry kit?

Yes. No kit, no run. Anybody found to be running without the correct kit will be disqualified, removed from the results and no refund given.

I like to run with headphones, can I race with them?

On 1st April 2016 UK Athletics banned the use of headphones in all road races with any length of open single carriage roads and in any race in which the race directors have identified hazards. This event has taken the decision to ban headphones of any type from all races. We believe athletes need to be able to hear instructions and warnings from marshals, other athletes and members of the public. As this is a lapped race slower runners are likely to be lapped and need to hear when a runner is about to overtake them. Any athlete ignoring the no headphone rule will be disqualified and removed from the results with no refund.

When will results be published?

Provisional results will be online usually within seconds of the runners crossing the line of each checkpoint (via our “live timing”), where a mobile phone signal is present. Please note these results are provisional and will not be sent to 3rd party websites until the relevant checks have been made.
