You will have 6 hours to complete this event, you are not tied to any distance you can run as far or as little as you wish. All entrants will be running around a 400m athletics track for the duration of the event. Therefore, you will be testing your physical fitness and your mental ability to conquer this rather unique challenge.
With plenty of time on your hands, there will be plenty of opportunities for participants to get a PB no matter what distance they race. The number of laps for each distance is outlined below:
- Half Marathon: 52.75
- Marathon: 105.5
- 50k Ultra: 125

How to get there

There will be plenty of free onsite parking for entrants.
If taking a train the closest train station is Ware, from there you can take a bus to Amberley Green which is only a short walk to the race venue.

When booking, you are not tied to the distance that you sign up for this is just a guideline. For example, if you sign up for the Half Marathon but fancy running further feel free to do so.
All entrants must be 18 years or above to participate.
Please arrive 30 minutes before the start time to collect your race number and receive the race briefing.
- Overtake on the right-hand side
- If you are going to walk some parts of the event, please stay in the outer lanes of the track
- You can run as little or as far as you like and you do not need to run for the whole 6 hours

Since 2000, Zoe of Zig Zag Running started running, starting from scratch with the feat of trying to get to complete a 5k, taking the couch to 5k training plan. It just didn't stop there, over the years pushing herself, this self motivation eventually evolved into marathon running. Zoe has completed Marathons, Ultra Marathons, 5 Marathons in 5 Days, 52 marathons in 52 weeks, 10 marathons in 10 days, 100 marathons in 100 weeks, a 50k & a 50 mile Ultra marathon, with her target next of completing a 100 mile race. Stephens background is in Hypnosis, therapy, sports coaching and Entertainment. During this time we have both gained valuable experience in what it takes to organise a good marathon, we have also both met and made friends with some wonderful people who are such fun to be around, with useful advice, assistance and encouragement throughout the country and even in other corners of the world Our mission is to give our runners the best experience and encourage others to achieve their goals and dreams and to also impart the ideals of good sportsmanship, community and health.
Is there a fitness requirement for the Catherine Wheel Canter?
No, there is no fitness requirement but if you would like to walk some of the event please stick to the outer lanes of the track.
Will there be parking available at the Catherine Wheel Canter?
Yes, there will be plenty of free onsite parking for all entrants.
What do I get with my race entry to the Catherine Wheel Canter?
All entrants will receive a bespoke medal, free tea, coffee and cake, race photograph. Most importantly, a chance to get a new PB on this completely flat athletics track.
Do I have to run for the whole 6 hours in the Catherine Wheel Canter?
All entrants can run for as long or as little as you like over the 6 hour period and there is no set pace you must run at.
