About this event

Your organiser

Our founder, John Walker started the running club in the 1970's as part of his mission to make running accessible to the masses. John was one of the pioneers in marathon running to all, he began 'the peoples marathon' in March of 1980, a marathon for all to enter, prior to this it was only elite runners than could take part in marathons.

Friendly local race that is relatively flat. Excellent organisation, but you do need to be prepared to walk or jog the 0.75 mile from the race HQ to the start line, although you can use that opportunity to use it as a warm up/down.… read more

Centurion 5 Miler, well organised, very friendly and enthusiastic staff and marshals. Nice course, mostly tarmac and trails, so would definitely recommend.Slightly annoying start as the path is narrow, then theres a sharp left turn, over the bridge then another sharp left turn through a narrow gap... so it might be advantageous to start as close to the front as possible to avoid the bunching!A small niggle with the timing... I pressed my Garmin as the start hooter went and after I ran over the line, so if anything, I would have expected my time to be quicker than my Garmin, but my official time was seven seconds slower.... its a minor point, but that might be the diffence of a PB or not.Very friendly community feel about the event... post race raffle, prizes, certificates, tea & coffee. Lots of very nice people!… read more

A fantastic event and one of my favourite events. I have done the series for 7 years on the run! Its 6 races. A 3-lap flat course where you go as hard as possible. Tactics are relevant to shield from the wind. Some good bits... very friendly, prizes at the end for age group which add an incentive, and the free raffle - where we won!!!..... again... pass the chocolates over here please Helen!!!… read more

Very good for a low key run out either as a race sharpener, training tool or just introduction to racing. Course flat and fast, although varying surface can slow things somewhat. All in all, would absolutely recommend.
