Triathlon located at Folkestone Harbour run in association with the Rotary Club of Folkestone Channel and raising funds for charitable causes.

This is a charity event organised by Tri Spirit Events on behalf of the Rotary Club of Folkestone Channel. The main charities will be the Celia Blakey Centre for care of people being treated for cancer and the Shepway Sports Trust many other local charities will also benefit.

Channel Triathlon routes

The swim starts on Sunny Sands beach, Folkestone

Standard Tri & Aquabike – 2 x 750m laps.

Cycle through the beautiful Kent countryside.

Standard Tri & Aquabike – 40K = 2 x 20K laps.

Out towards Sandgate return via the Lower Leas Coastal Park.

Standard Tri – 10K = 2 x 5K laps.

Channel Tri will start on Sunny sands beach, before competitors head out of the water and run to T1 located at the Harbour,the bike section takes on a one loop for the sprint and 2 for the standard triathlon.

Cycle through country lanes onto quiet, scenic country roads through Hawkinge and Alkham Valley, before returning to transition.

The run section is an out and back route along the coast towards Sandgate and return via the Leas Country park, before returning to the boardwalk at Folkestone harbour and cross the finish line.

FAQs

Q. Will I be sent my bib number or information?

A. We do not send anything out in the post. One week before the event date an email message will be sent, so please check your inbox. This message will contain all the event information you require including your bib number, event information and parking etc.. this will also be available online at the Tri Spirit Events website. Make sure you look on the correct event landing page.

Q. Can I enter on the day?

A. No, our events fill up, so you are better off signing up early, so not to be disappointed. You will also benefit as our early bird entry fees will apply.

Q. I’ve entered an event but have injured myself in the last week. Can I get my money back?

A. No, unfortunately as you are in the last 30 days to the event date we are unable to offer a refund or transfer. Please read our withdrawal and refunds policy. We hate this part of event organising but have to be fair to all who enter.

Q. What are the ground conditions for the run?

A. The surface is tarmac paths which is uneven in places, please be careful.

Q. Is the bike section is on road?

A. Yes, the bike section is on road and open to traffic. Remember to beware of other competitors and traffic.

Q. Do I need to wear a wetsuit?

A. It depends on the temperature of the water – we run our events in conjunction with the governing body British Triathlon.

The rule book – 9.3 The minimum water temperature at which wetsuits are optional is 14°C.

9.6 The use of wetsuits is forbidden or mandatory if the following combinations of
distance and water temperature are attained:

1500m Above 22°C NO WETSUIT but between 14°C – 22°C it’s your choice. However we strongly recommend that you wear a wetsuit for our events.

Q. Are there changing facilities at folkestone harbour?

A. There are toilet areas for changing facilities.
