An amazing race with a lot of support at the start and middle. I found it a challenging route with a good mix of terrain and plenty hills, as expected from a fell race. There was a lot of camaraderie and encouragement from runners and supporters, local clubs being particularly well represented. The last couple of miles were lonely for me (bottom quarter of the field) as I was alone from the top of Old John as far as the fields by the school and had to ask marshalls directions twice because I think they assumed I knew where I was going (I didn't, because usually I have someone to follow). I don't think this is avoidable, but I would want people to be aware that if they are slower they may find the field very spread out at the end! It was a lovely race and I feel lucky to have been part of it. I will definitely enter the ballot next year!

Absolutely love this race. Have run it twice now and its definitely one of my favourite. Really well organised and good value for money. Terrain is challenging to say the least with ditches to leap/scramble down and over and some tough climbs up to old John and Beacon hill. Support is brilliant with groups from local running clubs cheering and ringing cow bells. Scenery is amazing and if you enjoy trail running you should definitely give this race ago but expect hills and a challenging 14miles including mud and sometimes ice. There are no drink stations so if you need to fuel up or drink make sure you take some with you.
