Amazed this race went ahead - despite promises of a clear course and gritting on a snowy/ icy day large areas were not adequately gritted and extremely treacherous. Whilst acceptable for a trail or cross country race - this seemed dangerous for a ‘fast flat race’. Can’t imagine how the risk assessment was signed off. lucky for run through they seemed to get away with it with no catastrophes.

The course was not fit to run on in places. The area around the velodrome was compacted snow and ice. Should not have been run on

Snow and ice on much of the course meant running was difficult and at times unsafe. No information was given about this in the morning update email. Travelling from a snow free area for it meant we were unprepared for conditions that apparently had been like that for 2 days. Local runners had pulled out leaving a small field sliding all over the place. It probably should have been cancelled but warning us of conditions in the morning would at least have given us the chance to make an informed decision on attendance or more suitable footwear.

Not adequate lighting at the kit collection- not easy to secure the pins dark. Also dark on some of the paths but we have been instructed to bring lights.Muffled sounds at the starting point, difficult to understand instructions for the 5 and 10k runners. Plenty of supporters, really helpful. Signs for the route well posted.Would recommend hot drinks on finish line
