The event is officially endorsed by UK Athletics, and has been a stupendously popular event since we started this in 2013 with a small plan, and big hopes.

The 10K is a non-for-profit event, and all monies raised split evenly between the 4 beneficiary charities as chosen by the committee; Bishop Sutton Primary School PTA, Chew Valley School Society, NICU Support and A Life for a Cure.

Chew Valley 10k & 1k routes

The race starts at Bishop Sutton Football Club, [Lakeview,

Wick Road, Bishop Sutton, BS39 5XN], and heads out on the rural roads towards East Harptree in the shadow of the Mendip Hills. The challenge then comes in the climb up to Hinton Blewitt up the now infamous HILL where your energies will be rewarded with wide views over the Chew Valley – and maybe some jelly babies. The final stretch drops you back into Bishop Sutton where the crowds will cheer you across the finish tape – concluding back at the Club for the prize giving ceremonies.

What’s Included

Raceday Logistics

For the runners, the Clubhouse is your point for pre-race registration, collecting your chip and numbers – including a box of safety pins (because you always forget them), provides facilities for changing, toilets, shelter from the rain and a supervised bag drop centre. Strategically placed water stations will be plotted around the course, and First Aid cover will be provided by the Avon & Somerset Rescue Team and the Community Paramedics.

The race starts by Bishop Sutton Football Club, this would be the perfect location for family and friends to gather and cheer on the runners.

We will have refreshments available, a BBQ, bouncy castles, a live band and much more planned – including freshly made cakes, now a traditional post run treat!

Who can enter?

The CV10k is an inclusive event, we welcome runners of all ages, shapes and abilities. If fact, we openly encourage those who think that running isn’t for them to join us. We won’t bite! …often.

Did the Chew Valley 10k in 2019

This is a really well organised event. A vibrant atmosphere with very enthusiastic marshals and race personnel. The whole community comes together to make this a success. Results were available almost immediately and the. presentation of prizes was quick and efficient.
Facilities were excellent tea coffee cakes and a bar available. Only negative was the lack of any showers but I realise this could be a problem as the race has grown since the inaugural event in 2013. Overall this race is highly recommended and puts some larger events to shame. The course is very demanding but no less enjoyable as a result.
