Spectator Info
As in previous years, general spectators will not have access to the race start and finish areas within Grant Park on race day. These areas will be accessible to participants displaying their event-issued bib numbers, event staff with proper credentials, and ticketed guests (where applicable). Individuals who are not registered for the race will not be able to escort runners to the start line or greet runners at the finish line.
We recommend that spectators support runners from elsewhere on the course, and meet runners after the race at the designated runner reunite area after the race.
To view runners closest to the start of the race, go to Grand Avenue, between Columbus Drive and State Street, near Mile 1, or anywhere along State Street, between Grand Avenue and Jackson Boulevard.
To view runners closest to the finish of the race, go to the Bank of America Cheer Zone at Michigan Avenue and Roosevelt Road.
Connect with friends and family after the race, at Runner Reunite. Alphabetical signs (A-Z) will be staged on Columbus Drive adjacent to the Biofreeze 27th Mile Post-Race Party to facilitate meeting locations by name.

Chicago is a very friendly and beautiful city! The views on the course were almost as awesome as the jovial spectators. Mostly flat, crisp cool weather, lots of energy! Pretty well organized, although many volunteers could not answer questions or give directions. Nice that it’s a walkable distance from many hotels. I was t impressed with the expo, the medal, or the goodie bag, but I still had a great time and would do it again!

Chicago is a world major for a reason. The well planned course and support make this an honest challenge to do your best. It's flat overall, with a few small climbs here and there. There are usually huge crowds all along the course. The weather is mostly good, but Chicago is unpredictable. Still if you are going to get a major marathon under your belt, this is the one.

This was by far the best experience for me, and made even more special because it was my 1st Marathon! Loved every bit of it and would definitely come back year after year!

One of the most well-organized races of its size I’ve ever seen. Easy to navigate on race morning, top-notch race expo, and a super fun course with incredible crowd support from start to finish. Very flat, very fast.

Had an awesome first experience at the Chicago Marathon 2019. The people lining the streets and the energy throughout was the needed push that I needed to finish. The people running the race were awesome and very friendly as well. Getting to the marathon itself presented some challenges, but I made it and the volunteers were awesome. Getting my bag checked in and afterwards was seamless. Overall, I had a great experience!
