This course is part of the Wrexham County Trilogy Series. The Trilogy Series allows runners to take in best scenery the Wrexham County has to offer. Chirk Castle is an engaging start due to its stunning grounds located on the outskirts of the Welsh English border.

Chirk Castle is an imposing property perched on the top of a hill with commanding views of the countryside. The grounds in Chirk Castle are simply stunning with antient woodlands and rolling hills.
This multi distance trail race will take you through some amazing antient woodland in the beautiful grounds of Chirk Castle. The race will take place over a 5K out and back loop on a multi-terrain surface which is in great condition. The course is hilly in places. Throughout the course there will be marshals in key locations as well as signs to ensure everyone’s safety and enjoyment.

Chirk Castle National Trust offers FREE parking. This is located approximately 500m from the start/ finish line.
By train
Chirk Station is on the Shrewsbury to Chester line. From Chirk Train Station it is a quarter mile to the gates of the estate, and 1 and a quarter miles in total to the castle. See directions on foot for more details.
By road
Chirk Castle is 7 miles south of Wrexham, 8 miles north of Oswestry and 5 miles from Llangollen. It is clearly signposted from the A5 and A483. From the A5 proceed 1 mile to Chirk village, the entrance to the estate is 2 miles west of Chirk village and is clearly signposted.
Please note: When you arrive by car at the white iron Davies gates please continue to your right. The entrance to the estate is 1.4 miles further on.
SatNav users should when arriving to Chirk follow signs instead of the SatNav as this can take you the wrong way.

Age Requirements
  • Junior: participants need to be aged 10-15 to take part in the Junior category
  • Open: participants need to be aged 16-39 to take part in the Open category
  • Master: participants need to be aged 40 and over to take part in the Master category
Cut-off Time
The course closes at 12:00, meaning you must cross the finish line by this time.
Water stations
Participants are asked to bring their own refillable bottle. Water will be available at the aid station to refill your bottles.
Aid Stations
There will be Vegan and Vegetarian friendly aid stations at this event.
First aid
St john’s Ambulance will be providing First Aid on site.
Bag Drop
There is no bag drop at this event. Participants should leave their belongings with friends/family, or in their vehicles.
Toilets
Toilets available near start/ finish line.
Race Rules
Changing your race distance is available until 72 hours before race start. Please note that there will be an admin fee for changing to a longer distance category, there are no refunds for changing to a shorter distance category.

Can I refund my ticket for the Chirk Castle races?
If due to circumstances beyond our control the event needs to be cancelled or rescheduled, your entry will automatically be transferred to the next local event. Due to the high costs of staging events such as this, the event organiser is unable to offer refunds.
