Club to Pub route

THE COURSE

The swim course is 1.5km, beginning at Henley Rowing Club and ending at the Angel on the Bridge.

This event is ideal for the first-time open water swimmer. Our recommendation is that you are capable of comfortably carrying out regular continuous pool swims of 2km. Age 18+

You can enter the Club to Pub as a team (men/women/mixed). The times of the fastest 4 team members will be counted, the team with the lowest combined time will be declared team winners.

COURSE SPECIFICS

The first 400m of the swim is upstream towards Marsh lock. Swimmers turn at 2 large marker buoys and hug the Mill Meadow bank, travelling downstream all the way to the pub.

Water Temperature

The water temperature at the Classic depends upon both the outside temperature and the quantity of rainfall in the days and weeks running up to the event. It is therefore very difficult to predict.

Based on previous years, at the end of July expect the water to be between 17 and 19 degrees centigrade.

The Club to Pub swim, now in its seventh year, continues to grow in popularity. A summer 1.5km evening swims taking place in the heart of Henley. Starting from Henley Rowing Club, and finishing at the Historic Angel on the Bridge (dating back to 1728).

This event is ideal for the first-time open water swimmer. Our recommendation is that you are capable of comfortably carrying out regular continuous pool swims of 2km. Age 18+

There will be a BBQ and drinks available to purchase after the swim.

  • There will be event parking available at a location to be confirmed.
  • Toilets, changing facilities and showers are available at Henley Rowing Club.
  • All finishers will receive a bottle of Brakspear beer and a medal that doubles as a bottle opener.

RACE SCHEDULE

WAVES

Waves will go off at approximately 10 minute intervals, from 6.45pm, in the following order:

Wave 1 – Performance Wave – select this wave if you are feeling competitive and wish to race hard (mixed wave)

Wave 2 – Men – select this wave if you wish to swim in a wave of men only

Wave 3 – Women – select this wave if you wish to swim in a wave of women only

Wave 4 – Mixed Wave – select this wave if you wish to swim with friends of the opposite sex

Wave 5 – Mixed Wave – select this wave if you wish to swim with friends of the opposite sex

At entry, swimmers will be asked to select the wave they wish to swim in. Placings will be issued after all the waves have finished, and will be separated into sex and age group categories, along with a traditional category and team prizes.

If you are planning on racing hard, and expect to finish in the top 100 swimmers, please select the performance wave. All other swimmers, both competitive and leisurely, can select between a male, female or mixed wave. Mixed Wave 1 and Mixed Wave 2 are both mixed sex and mixed ability. If you are swimming with friends, please choose the same wave.

Placings will be issued after all the waves have finished, and will be separated into sex and age group categories, along with a non-wetsuit category and team prizes.

How to enter your Team

Each team member must do their own registration. The first team member to sign up should create the team on the entry system. Subsequent swimmers can then join the team by selecting the team name from the drop down list.

Kit List

Wetsuit Hire
There will be wetsuit hire for the day available through the event organiser and a kit partner. Wetsuits can be collected and returned at the event. If the hired suit is to your liking, you also have the option of buying it.
