Route description
Route description

This 3 day Tour takes cyclists all the way across Northern England from Coast to Coast. The stunning route will take you through the Yorkshire Dales and three Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The route isn't the typical Sustrans route, but a quieter route run by the Cycle Britain team who have unrivalled knowledge of cycling in the UK. This trip is a wonderful opportunity to take on an epic journey with the full support of a brilliant, expert team.

Cycle Britain love to make cycling more accessible and averaging 58 miles a day this route allows a large range of cyclists to take on the challenge. This combined with the wonderful support you will receive makes it a truly memorable experience.

Riders will have the choice of a variety of packages. You have the option to book a fully supported tour, where you will ride with a guide who will be a qualified medic and mechanic. The amazing support vehicle will be on hand all day carrying your day bag and turning into a pop-up cafe to supply you with nutritious lunches and snacks, and energy drinks.

You can also choose a tour with slightly less support or even a self-guided tour, meaning there is something to suit everyone.

Whatever tour you select you will be in groups between 8 and 12 people allowing Cycle Britain to cater for a different level of fitness and riding and experience. It also means you will be looked after brilliantly throughout the adventure.

Day 1
Morecambe to Hebden
54 miles

It is a tradition at the start of a Coast to Coast ride to dip your rear wheel into the sea. However given that Morecambe Bay is the second largest bay in the UK, if its low tide this may not be possible!

Once the ride begins the group will skirt the north of Lancaster at the start of a scenic first day. Riders will head through the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The ride finishes in the shadow of the Cracoe Reef Knolls, low lying hills which are the remains of a coral reef, millions of years old.

Day 2
Hebden to York
60 miles

The day begins undulating over the Yorkshire Dales with every rise in the road revealing more of the stunning landscape. A long descent will take you from the Dales into Pateley Bridge, an award winning village boasting beautiful stone houses which featured in the 2014 Tour de France.

The climb out of the village reaches a brutal 19% and takes you up to the Nidderdale AONB. Enjoy amazing sites such as Ripon’s 7th-century gothic cathedral as you roll on flat country lanes towards the finish in York

Day 3
York to Bridlington
60 miles

The first section of the road takes the group through the stunning woodland, rolling hills and scenic village of the Howardian Hills AONB. Much of the 3rd day will take place on the Yorkshire National Byway and the Yorkshire Wolds Cycle Route, which is recgonised for its low-traffic and beautiful scenery.

As you head through the day England's east coast will come into site, with the sounds of seagulls in the air with the road slowly descending towards the sea. Bridlington is a wonderful conclusion to the challenge, with its sandy beaches, elegant promenade and historic harbour. The group will celebrate with a banquet offering delicious food and a chance to reminisce over the 3 day adventure.
