Really enjoyed this 10k run. Starts in the zoo, so you get to run past some of the animals, then you do a big loop round the back of the zoo through lovely countryside. There’s a few inclines, and some nice downhills, then back into the zoo to finish off. Once you’ve finished you can show your number and get free entry into the zoo. Also 20% off the food outlets! Pretty good value all round. Lovely medal and t shirt as well. Good atmosphere. Chip timed. Nicely spaced out start as everyone has to queue through the zoo to start. Free massage before as well! Great 10k. Would definitely do again.… read more

Route description
Route description

**This event was postponed from November 2020**

The course starts and finishes inside Colchester Zoo. Runners will be able to see Elephants, Lions, Cheetahs, Hyenas, Bears, Baboons and Giraffes to name but a few.

The route heads out of the zoo on a closed road loop which is well marshalled and signposted.

This is a flat course and often considered as a potential PB course. However it goes without saying the stunning thing about this event is the animals.

Loved this run so well organised, great friendly people and Marshalls everywhere Brilliant medal goodie bag and T Shirt. Was fantastic to walk pass all the elephants and tigers etc at the start. The route was beautiful countryside although there is a hill at mile 5.5 but this make it more interesting (LOL) I will defiantly run this again next year. .
