This is a great course for your first taste of night running, taking you through Dartington's woods. Although there are some hills and a good dose of mud, there aren't any major challenges, so you're encouraged to enjoy yourself with friends, fancy dress and Christmas cheer.
All routes start and finish at the same point. The longer routes head towards Staverton Ford Plantation. Then, the 5K route heads straight to North Wood before looping back, while the 10K route first does a loop along the banks of the River Dart and then follows the 5K route.

Something Wild Events organise running races & a trail festival in Devon & the South West. Most are on trails and quite a few are in the dark!
Spectators are more than welcome at this event and it is a great evening out for the family. The sight of several hundred runners wearing head torches and festive fancy dress is not to be missed.
Please note that head torches are compulsory. This is due to the fact that although parts of the route are illuminated, runners will be running through some dark areas.
You are encouraged to wear your most festive fancy dress. There's even a prize for the best dressed adult and child. Fluorescent or reflective clothing will be particularly useful in the dark conditions.
Is there an age limit?
Yes, there are age restrictions for all 4 races: 10K: 16+, 5K: 12+, 2K: Ages 8-11, 1K: Ages 3-7
What type of head torch will I need?
Generally the more expensive the head torch, the brighter and more reliable the light will be and it will enable you to run faster. It is recommended that you spend at least £30 on a head torch. A £5 petrol station head torch is not recommended.
Can I race with my dog?
Dogs are not permitted on the course.
