Route information
Dartmoor Way 100
The route takes participants along the edge of the moor, along ancient tracks and trails. As you run, you'll see well-known landmarks and idyllic moorland villages, woodland and riverside trails, and leafy, country lanes.
This event is not just a simple race. Participants are given 36 hours to complete this epic adventure, non-stop. Competitors must reach the 7 indoor checkpoints along the route to complete the race successfully.
While 36 hours seems like a lot of time, competitors have to tackle over 4000m of rocky, boggy ascent. With British November weather, who knows whether you'll be running in snow or just chilly conditions.
Most runners are expected back at Ashburton in around 20-22 hours, and most runners around 24-30 hours.
The Dartmoor Way 100 requires competitors to be physically fit with ultra distance running experience and with the ability to navigate using pre-marked DW100 maps, GPS, GPX files or a combination of all of these. Runners will be monitored throughout the race by GPS tracking.
Dartmoor Way 50
This 50 Mile race takes competitors along the western side of the Moor, and travels across several sections of open moorland. Beginning in Lydford, the route follows the Dartmoor Way Walking Route, heading south towards Tavistock, South Brent, and then onwards to the finish line in Ashburton. Runners will have 16 hours to complete their race.
This race is not easy, with 51 miles to travel and over 2000m of ascent across rugged terrain, it's not for the faint hearted.
Experience of running trail marathons is a minimum requirement for this event.
