Route information
This beautiful and vast open-aired race is the perfect way enjoy a covid-secure running race. Doddington Place Gardens itself is a stunning Edwardian Estate, which will provide some of the best running routes in Kent.
The Gardens, which are located close to Faversham in Kent, are spectacular in the spring and both runners and spectators will be able to view the notable woodlands which include many different varieties of rhododendrons and azaleas.
Theres plenty to see in the large Edwardian rock garden with pools (currently undergoing extensive renovation); a formal sunk garden with herbaceous borders, and a flint and brick folly. The extensive lawns and avenues are framed by impressive, clipped yew hedges and many fine trees.
The undulating course follows trails around the estate, and is home to some tricky, but very manageable hills, with 10k participants completing 2 laps and 5k runners completing 1 lap.
The route starts and finishes close to the main drive and takes runners around the front of the house and all the way through the Park Estate. From here, runners will cross the road at the bottom of the main park and head to the Southern fields of the estate before returning along the main drive.
Whether you're new to trail running, or part of a running club in Kent, this event is the perfect chance experience the Kent countryside.
The event also includes a 2k Kid's Run which will be free to enter on the day, making this a wonderful day out for the whole family.

Trail is definitely not my thing but I were prepared for it this year!Such a great atmosphere and the marshals were fantastic. As a note…my friend took a tumble just before the first 5k mark. St Johns we’re there at super speed. Thankfully she didn’t need any help, but it was great to see how quickly help was at hand.

Brilliant Adrenaline rushing run!Only slight issue, those with dogs need to take their dog mess bags home with them or there should be signs around the place reminding them too.The pretty medal is amazing!

Hey Shelly, did you sign up?! I'm thinking about doing the canicross but I'm completely new to it. Do you have any advice at all?
Shelly Blake
11/26/2020
Hi Steph! I’ve not signed up yet but I’m considering it. I’m woefully out of shape right now!! I’ve been doing Canicross for years with my husky. I recommend doing C25K with your dog to get started. You’ll need a belt for you & no more than 2m lead attached to a harness for your dog. Are you in Kent? Check out Kent Canicross on Facebook x

Hi Shelly. Amazing, thanks for the tips! I'm going to sign up now. No I am London-based but will have a look online for the belt and lead attachment etc. Thank you!

Hi, I'm thinking of entering the 10k but I've never done any trail running before, does anyone have any advice on trail shoes or any training tips?
Carol randall
11/25/2020
I find the best trial shoes are Solomon speedcross.
Rachael Wood
11/26/2020
Hi Rachel, you are going to love running on trails and this is going to be an amazing venue! we do recommend you wear trail shoes and get some practice in them first. We'll leave shoe recommendations to other runners to comment on. Road shoes will be ok, but if there has been lots of rain (which is highly likely in Feb!) then it can be boggy and slippery in places, trail shoes do help but not essential. We hope to see you there! Rachael - Nice Work

I've just signed up to do a 10k Canicross but put an anticipated finish time of 30mins when it should have been an hour. Oohps sorry. I dont want to be classed as an elite running.... lol

Aidan Thomson
11/16/2020
Hey Katie - under UK Athletics the minimum age for a 5k is 11 years old so your son can definitely take part! For 10k's the minimum age is 15. Good luck with the race!
