The Doddington Place Gardens Valentines 5k & 10k routes

This beautiful and vast open-aired race is the perfect way enjoy a covid secure running race. Doddington Place Gardens itself is a stunning Edwardian Estate, which will provide some of the best running routes in Kent.

The undulating course follows trails around the estate, with 10k participants completing 2 laps and 5k runners completing 1 lap.

Whether you're new to trail running, or part of a running club in Kent, this event is the perfect chance experience the Kent countryside.

All participants in the canicross will need a harness for their dog.

Covid-secure

Nice Work have successfully developed a number of new procedures which are designed to ensure that their races are completely covid-secure and ensure the safety of runners, staff and the general public. These include:

- Socially distanced waved starts
- Contact-free medal collection
- Hand sanitiser throughout the venue
- Regularly cleaned toilet facilities

Raceday Logistics

09:00 10k and 5k Morning Races Start

10:30 10k and 5k Morning Races End

12:00 10k and 5k Afternoon Races Start

13:00 Canicross 5k and 10k Races Start

13:30 10k and 5k Afternoon Races End

Both of the morning and afternoon races will be set off in waves, ensuring social distancing and keeping each entrant as safe as possible.

The races will have an hour and a half gap between the end of the morning race and the beginning of the afternoon race to help reduce the risk to participants.

Waves will be set off in 3 minute intervals, at a maximum of 12 people per wave.

Wave start times will be determined by your estimated finish time to help avoid overtaking during the races.

NB: As a requirement of a covid-secure event, please ensure you arrive ready to run.

Race Packs

If you have entered the race in good time, to minimise interactions on the day, race packs will be sent to participants in the post.

If you have entered the race close to the race date, you will need to collect your race number on the morning of the event.

If you proceed to the registration table, a race official will write down your name and advise you of your race number – and you will be asked to sanitise your hands and, if you wish, put on gloves, before collecting your number from a storage box on the desk.

Please remember to social distance from the race official and anybody else who is collecting a number.

A race official will manage any queues to ensure everybody remains socially distanced.

Kit List
  • Trail running shoes are thoroughly recommended. Given the time of year, there is a high chance of mud around the course, so do check the weather on the day and bring a rain-jacket if required.
  • Masks must be worn in and around the event venue, but can be removed when running.
  • Please bring your own water bottle and enough water to last you your race.
  • Race numbers must be worn on the front of your shirt and not on your legs or back.
  • Please make sure you complete the medical information on the reverse of your number, it is particularly imperative now more than ever that we know who is taking part in the event.
  • Any runners in the Canicross races must have a harness for their dog.
Spectators

Unfortunately, given the current covid-19 situation, spectators will not be allowed to attend. If the situation changes, then the event page will be updated accordingly.

Should the event be cancelled or postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, then all entrants will receive a full refund.
How do the socially-distanced waved starts work?
A maximum of twelve people will be able to begin the race in each 5 minute slot – and each of those people will be allocated a place on the start line according to their anticipated finish time, with the fastest runner lining up on the front of the start line.
What if I am a member of a running club in Kent?
Running club's are strongly encouraged to sign up and there is a £2 discount for UKA Affiliated members.
