Route description
The route starts and finishes on an open flat area of grass and from then onwards, the route remains on the path throughout, until reaching the finish area. Apart from approximately 50m of grass at the start/finish, the Dog Jog Birmingham route is suitable for wheelchair users. The 50m grass is on a slight slope and assistance may be required to get up / down this part of the course.
The majority of the course is on tar, although some sections of the course do accumulate mud in wet conditions. The route includes two anti-clockwise loops around the park with the lake on your left. It passes by the toy train shelter called “Cannon Hill Station” and the tennis courts and bowling green.
It is advised that you arrive 15 minutes before the start to take part in the Dog Jog Warm-up. The event is not timed so don’t worry about rushing around. There will be signage and marshals along the route to cheer you on and make sure no-one goes the wrong way. Once you come to the finish line you will be greeted by our friendly MC and finish team who will give you a bottle of water, an event goody bag and your well-deserved medal. Remember your camera or phone and why not make your way to the Dog Jog podium where you can take your picture along with anyone you’ve come with.
