Edinburgh 1.5k, 5k & 10k MoRun routes

**This event has become a virtual challenge. Please contact [email protected] if you have any questions**

This event has been changed to a virtual challenge due to increased restrictions from the government and your MoRun venue. You may not be able to physically come together but you can still run for each other, you can still run as one as MoRunners throughout the month of November, you can still dress up and grow a Mo (or paint one on!) and still continue to support Movember.

Run around the historic Holyrood Park and take part in this year's Edinburgh MoRun. The route stays on roads throughout, but has some breathtaking scenic views of the iconic Arthur's Seat and over Edinburgh. The course is hilly, especially for the first 2 kilometres, but is suitable for buggy runners and wheelchairs.

Laps:

  • 5k: 1 Lap
  • 10K: 2 Laps

Kit List

This is a fancy dress event, with special prizes for the best costume, so don't forget to dress up!

It is especially encouraged to draw on or wear a fake moustache (unless you've grown one already, that is). You will receive your free MoRunning Headband in your race pack, so make sure to put it on before the race.

Please make sure that your Bib race number is fully visible on the outside.

Spectators

This is a great family event, with lots of silly fancy dress and groovy music, so it will be great fun to come and watch. You're more than welcome to come along and cheer your friends and family around the course. There's also a strong charitable focus, so the more support the better.

Volunteers

If you are not able to take part in this year's races but would still like to take part in the event by volunteering or marshalling, you would be hugely welcome.

There are plenty of roles available, and volunteers tend to work from 8am-12pm. In return, you will receive snacks, drinks, and free entry to a future event.

If you would like to volunteer, please email [email protected]

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the age restrictions for the Edinburgh MoRun?
Children are permitted to run in any of the events, as long as their parent/guardian is confident that they are able to finish the course. Parents/guardians must be responsible for their children at all times. The Mini Mo event is restricted to younger children aged 3-12.
Do I need to fundraise for the Movember Foundation?
Fundraising is not compulsory, but anything you can raise would make a big difference. When you enter, you have the option of making a donation. You can fundraise for any charity of your choice. MoRunning supports the Movember Foundation which tackles men's health, focusing on prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.
Is there anywhere I can leave my bags?
Yes, a bag storage area is located by the registration area. However, space is very limited so please pack lightly. The bag storage gazebos will always be attended, but it is not recommended to bring anything valuable.

It was my very first time doing anything like this and I felt the event was very well organised and easy to navigate around where you had to go etc. The course was a good run with some lovely bits of scenery. I will 100% be back next year to do it all again and try beat my PB.

    Did the 10K in 2019

I struggled on the ascent on the second lap. Need to get fitter lol.

It wasn't half cold, could have done with a shorter time between registration and the race itself.

Highlight was seeing the Mini Mo event. Encouraging start to hopefully healthy lives.

  • Did the 10K in 2018

Race was great, really good fun, good atmosphere. My sister in law wasnt able to get parked dispite us reading there was parking available. But this wasnt a major issue.
  • Did the 10K in 2018

Race was tight to begin with as the number of runners going in to the first corner slowed things down a bit. That apart really challenging second lap heading back up the shoulder of the hill.
