Be prepared for the changeable weather conditions, try to be self sufficient only a few jelly babies and banana at check points, It was exceedingly slippery in places so good trail shoes are essential

It was really tough. I was ready for hills and v bad weather, but didn't quite realize that the entire course would turn into a mud bath. I had the gear, but this also made the flatter sections tough. One thing I personally didn't like were the stairs - if it's that steep that it needs stairs, I'd rather not have it in the race. Overall I would have liked a course where the ascents and (some of) the descents were a bit more gradual, but then, I knew what I was getting into.

Very tough course, the half marathon is about 16 miles of steep ups and downs! Worth it for the amazing views and sense of achievement at the end
  • Did the Half Marathon in 2016

The start literally goes straight uphill so take it super easy on that! Stunning scenery and some great bits on good terrain along the tops to get the hammer down. Really enjoyed the day - awesome pub for good food at the end too!
  • Did the Half Marathon in 2016

This event is TOUGH. The half marathon is about 26k, and it's either going up or going down. Epic views and race though - would highly recommend!

There's no two ways about it, this is a toughie. One of the hardest CTS courses and certainly the hardest I have done. There are some pretty big, rolling hills to overcome (mentally and physically) and the 'half' marathon distance is an underestimate. But get over that and you are richly rewarded with incredible views of the jurassic coast with sweeping coastal panoramas a really well attended and organised event and a nicely varied course. I particularly liked the changes from cliff top decents to small villages to beach front runs. The really gnarly bits to keep an eye out for are the initial 2 km which include a very steep kick start straight out of lulworth cove, the run around lulworth cove both at half way and at the finish just as your legs are empty you have to cover a peddle sandy beach to get to the line, and then just generally every hill in between. This is definitely one for the kudos on the CTS circuit and a real favourite for scenery.
