Route information
Long Route
Distance: 76km
Elevation: 1950m
Percentage of Route Off Road: 50%
Setting off from near to Llanwrst a flat valley road is the ideal way to warm up before the climbing commences.
Steep gravel climbs, hill top plateaus and epic descents characterise this ride. After a short flat start, the ride hits it’s first major climb (4.7km at 5.8% with some steep bits) and then you are into the hills for the next 60km. There are 5 off road climbs in total to get over, the toughest is 4.2km at 7.2% but all on well maintained, fast rolling gravel.
The long route takes in 3 distinct forests in the area each with their own character so despite the challenging terrain there is so much to see in all directions to keep the mind busy on the long climbs. The final 10km is the easiest with a fast descent and flat section before finishing with a cold beer.
Medium Route
Distance: 57km
Elevation: 1350m
Percentage of Route Off Road: 75%
The medium route mirrors the long route at the beginning of the ride however cuts off the hilliest 20km around Penmachno before rejoining the long route. Dont be fooled into thinking this route isnt just as tough but there are plenty of views to stop and soak up on the way.
