Hyland Park is calling, come join for the first stage of the Essex Cross Country Series. Great for trail runners of all stripes, the course weaves under hanging branches and over exposed tree routes. Come to kick start your summer or for that prized finisher's medal.

This is the first event of five in the Essex 10k series, running from May - September. Runners can take part in individual races or the entire series.
The mixed terrain course will take you over gravel pathways, through woodland, and across grassy plains, with exposed tree roots and overhanging branches throughout. While this is designed to test, the race is suitable for runners of all levels.
The route will consist of two laps, and it is asked that runners please be aware of other members of the public who are using the park.

How to get there

The closest railway station is Chelmsford which is around a 10 minute drive away from the race start.
Car parking is available at both entrances into the Hylands Estate, and parking charges apply between 9am and 6pm.
Event day logistics
08:30 Registration opens
09:30 Registration closes
09:45 10k starts
Please arrive at least 45 minutes before the start of the race to ensure there is plenty of time for the registration process.
Race packs must be collected on event day. please do not expect to receive anything by post.
Entrants must be 15 and older to enter the event.
Water stations will be available after the completion of each lap and the course will be marshalled and distance marked throughout.
There will be toilets at the start/finish area.

Is there a time limit for the Hylands Park 10k - Essex Cross Country Series?
There is no strict time limit in place. However, as a result of venue restrictions the start and finish area may need to be deconstructed after about 1hour and 30minutes.

All participants must be 15 and above on race day.

It is a mixed terrain course, taking participants across gravel paths and through wooded areas.

No, the event will not be licensed.

Is the Hylands Park 10k - Essex Cross Country Series suitable for wheelchair users?
Unfortunately the course is not suitable for wheelchair uses due to the terrain.
Can I run with a buggy at the Hylands Park 10k - Essex Cross Country Series?
Unfortunately buggies, pushchairs, and strollers are not permitted.
Can I bring my dog to the Hylands Park 10k - Essex Cross Country Series?
Dogs are not allowed at the event. Entries may be accepted from participants with medical assistance dogs, subject to them being correctly registered and identifiable as such, and subject to prior approval by the Event Director.
Can I wear headphones at the Hylands Park 10k - Essex Cross Country Series?
Noise cancelling headphones are not permitted, and other headphones are discouraged but can be used. It is asked that entrants set them to a low volume to ensure they can hear their surroundings.
Organisation good, other 10ks I have done there has always been a warm up but not here, course quite hard going

Hi Ben! It's a staggered start line to ensure social distancing. All further info will be shared with participants via email ahead of the event
