Thorndon Country Park is the fourth instalment of the Essex Cross Country 10k series. Anyone up for a challenge will enjoy this course that has its fair share of hills on both trails and paved paths. Come for one race, or all five, and earn your finisher's medal each time you race.

Route information
This is the 4th event in the 5 race Essex 10k series, running from May - September. Runners can take part in individual races or the entire series.
Underfoot, the course takes you along a variety of paths - gravel, forestry, grass plains - with exposed tree roots and overhanging branches throughout. Although a challenge, this is suitable for runners of all levels.
The route will be lapped, with runners completing it twice.
Water stations will be available after the completion of each lap and the course will be marshalled and distance marked throughout.

The closest station to Thorndon Park is Brentwood, which is served by regular trains to and from Liverpool Street and Shenfield.
Parking
Limited parking available for the park. Up to 1 hour £2.20, up to 2 hours £3.30, up to 3 hours £4.40 and over 3 hours £5.50.

Please arrive at least 45 minutes before the start of the race to ensure there is plenty of time for the registration process.
Race Packs
Race packs must be collected on event day. please do not expect to receive anything by post.
Age Requirements
Entrants must be 15 and older to enter the event.
Water Stations
Water stations will be available after the completion of each lap and the course will be marshalled and distance marked throughout.
Toilets
There will be toilets at the start/finish area.

There is no strict time limit in place. However, as a result of venue restrictions the start and finish area may need to be deconstructed after about 1hour and 30minutes.

Dogs are not allowed at the event. Entries may be accepted from participants with medical assistance dogs, subject to them being correctly registered and identifiable as such, and subject to prior approval by the Event Director.

Noise cancelling headphones are not permitted, and other headphones are discouraged but can be used. It is asked that entrants set them to a low volume to ensure they can hear their surroundings.

Awesome bit of hill action.It could have had a few more mobile refreshment areas for family who were supporting.But a cracking morning was had by all.

Great course. Very challenging which is good. Nice twist putting 2 hills near the end 🙂. This one definitely improve your fitness.

Quite a tough course, hills trail grass gravel tree roots uneven paths but that’s Thorndon Woods, and I loved every moment. Well marked out encouraging marshals along the way. If you like cross country this is for you. If you’ve not tried cross country give it a go.

A friendly and well organised event. Plenty of marshalls out on the route and the water station was in just the right location. I enjoyed it!
