Exeter’s Great West Run routes

Runners and spectators come from miles around for this spectacle. The clearly marked route starts and finishes in the centre of the city. Seeing the huge crowds helps fire you up as you start your journey through Exeter's countryside and as you come back down the home stretch for your stadium finish.

Participants must make the 4th mile marker by 1 hour and 10 minutes to avoid the cut-off time. Runners who do not make this will be redirected along the remaining portion of the route. Unfortunately this is a strict cut-off time due to the road closures involved in the race.

Drink Stations will be at the following points:

  • New North Road by the Imperial Pub
  • Stoke Road by Pennsylvania Road
  • Cowley Bridge Road by Steiner Academy (Clif Energy Bloks)
  • Prince of Wales Road by Devon & Exeter Squash Club
  • Pinhoe Road by St. Marks Church

This year's baggage lorrys were a great improvement. (thank to the scouts who were very quick at finding bags). The course is, great a lite challengeing in places which I like. All the marshals are very very good. Loads of encouragement from the local people. I would recommend. Being in October it means it is a little cooler which is great.
  • Did the event in 2018

It was a very rainy day, but great course, well organised and great event support and facilities.Needed more toilets!
