A quite stunning triathlon down on Devon's coastline. Triathlete's of all abilities can enjoy the beautiful waters during the open water swim, followed by a fairly challenging and undulating bike route but with an extremely flat run along the promenade you can storm to the finish.

How to enter the Exmouth Openwater Sprint Triathlon

Exmouth Openwater Sprint Triathlon routes


The swim will start in waves from the beautiful sandy beach and enters the calm waters for a fully marshalled, single lap 750m swim.

Competitors will then head out of Exmouth on a 20km undulating bike course with a mix of open and closed roads. The flat 5km run leg is an out and back along the seafront promenade towards the marina, with amazing views in both directions and great PB potential.


Swimmers should be able to swim 750/1500 metres using any stroke.

Race packs will be emailed to competitors in the week leading up to the race.


Race HQ, start and finish, and transition will be located at the East end of Exmouth beachfront by Orcombe Point on Queens Drive.

The team event will comprise of 3 members and the participants will transfer their chip in the transition area. All other details are the same as the individual.

The route will be marked and marshalled, however route-finding is always the competitor's responsibility so familiarise yourself with the route and area beforehand.


Swimmers can wear wetsuits. Bring a bowl to fill with water so you can wash the sand off your feet before the cycle.

Cyclists must wear approved helmets and abide by the rules of the road.


Please wear shoes that are not broken and are sufficient to run in.

This event is great for spectators, who can line the seafront to get the best views of the race.

At what time does the Exmouth Open Water Sprint Triathlon start?
Registration is open from 6.30am and will close an hour later. The race briefing is at 7.45am with the swim start at 8am
When will I receive my race pack for the Exmouth Open Water Sprint Triathlon?
You will pick up your race pack on the morning of the event. make sure you bring ID with you.
Is the Exmouth Open Water Sprint Triathlon family-friendly?
There a a few great viewing points for the race along the seafront where you will be able to watch the competitors fly by.
How old do I have to be to enter?
Participants must be 15 and over to enter the sprint, and 18 and over to enter the olympic distance.
