Route information
Get stuck into this fun, summertime event in support of the Finish Line Fund, which supports runners with grants and amateur-level sports in Southend-on-Sea. The event takes place in Belchamps Park, a lovely green space on the outskirts of Hockley.
With a traffic-free trail course, you can run as far or as little as you like, attempting a series of 5k loops. Complete 4 laps for a half marathon and 8 laps for a marathon, or race against the clock in the 6-hour timed event.
The loop begins at Belchamps Park, heading into the trails of the 130-hectare Hockley Woods and then down towards Gustedhall Woods and the Scrubs. At the Scrubs, runners will head northwards back towards the Park.

Belchamps Park is a short, 16-minute drive from Southend-on-Sea via the B1013. If coming from further afield, you can follow the A130 from Chelmsford, before heading on to the A1245 at Battlesbridge.
For those arriving by car, your sat nav will try to take you up Mount Bovers Lane, which is unsuitable for motor vehicles. Instead, follow the sign off Main Road into Poplars Avenue, turning left onto Woodside Chase and right into Holyoak Lane.

There is plenty of parking available at Belchamps Park.
By Public Transport
The nearest station is Hockley, which has services to Southend Victoria and London Liverpool Street. From the station, it is a 22-minute walk to the race start. Alternatively, you can catch the number 8 bus towards Great Wakering, which stops at Mount Bovers Lane.

Age Requirements
For the 10k, participants must be aged 15 and over, and 16 and over for the half marathon. To run 6-hour timed event, runners have to be 17 or older, and 18 or above for the trail marathon.
Checkpoints
There is an aid station located at the start/finish of each 5k loop, which will have plenty of snacks and drinks to refuel runners.
Cupless Event
Please be aware that this is a cupless event, so participants will have to bring their own receptacles for water. However, reusable cups can be purchased on race day if required.
Toilets
Toilets are located in Belchamps Park.

Do I have to run for the full 6 hours for the 6-hour timed event at the Finish Line Frolic?
No, you can run for as little or as long as you want within the 6-hour time limit! Simply complete one lap to earn your finisher's medal.
What do I have to bring to the Finish Line Frolic?
Please make sure you bring your own water receptacle as this will be a cupless event.
Is the Finish Line Frolic a 100 Club qualifying event?
Yes, it is a 100 Club qualifying event, so counts towards either your 50 marathon or 100 marathon target.
