This was my third year doing the Flitch Way 100k. The course is nice and flat (apart from a bridge) and the Flitch way is lovely to run on. There is a great Cafe at the HQ where supporters can get a fantastic cake and coffee. This is a great course for a first 100k as the lap nature means you can't get lost. This year was a tough one for me as had a few issues but the support of local runners as well as friends, family and the organisers helped pull me through.
Great race - predominantly set up to try and get a Spartathlon qualifier late in the season. It is a straight 5km out and 5km back race along a nice path. There are a few walkers and the odd cyclist but plenty of room to pass. There are 2 footbridges near the start. We were able to leave bags and supplies in a tent at the base so we could access them every 10km. My race unfortunately took a turn for the worse at 40km when my left knee seized up. The support of the race team was fantastic. They were informed and had sensible and encouraging advice. The atmosphere was professional and organised. I would certainly attempt a challenge running event again - I thoroughly enjoyed the day and I am very grateful to the team.
No thrills 100k time trial, did exactly what I expected. For a very low key race there were a remarkable amount of nationalities!
