About
The GMC will be back in 2018 staying with its traditional date slot and will be over the weekend of 10 / 11 November 18. It will be held in the Braemar area. All the usual features will be present, including a remote overnight camp with catering and heating, kit transfer to and from the camp, and orienteering and traditional hill sections over the two days. Ali R has agreed to take on the job of Planner once more, and Dave K and Ian H are again doing the Organising and Controlling. More information will be available in Spring 2018, and entries will open around Easter.

Did the race in 2018
As always a great event - my 4th time doing it. Bit of a luxurious midway camp this time with heated mountaineering club hut to socialize in - not the norm! Always well organised and always friendly. The orienteering sections mess with some people - got to keep your mind focussed for those.

A navigation race put on by volunteers from the local Orienteering club refreshingly free from the merchandise tents the "pro" event teams insist on. A great course(dont expect an easier second day!) and an overnight camp with a little slice of comfort. A warm indoor space(a building this year, usually a heated marquee apparently) with good food and beer(honesty box)...and porta loos. The organisers will even transport a small amount of gear to mid camp for you. Not for the mountain marathon purists but, hey, this is the Scottish Highlands in november...you need all the comfort you can get :-D
