Event day logistics
Great Run were sorry not to see their amazing Junior and Mini runners on the Newcastle and Gateshead Quayside last weekend following the sad news of the death of Queen Elizabeth II. They know how much this event means to their young runners and they absolutely deserve their moment in the spotlight.
With that in mind, their teams have been busy working on rescheduling the Junior and Mini Great North Run to an alternative date. They are delighted to let you know that it has been confirmed as Saturday 8 October 2022.
Your entry has been automatically rolled over to the new date, however if you can no longer make it you will be rolled into next year’s event taking place on Saturday 9 September 2023.
Other than the date of the event, everything else will remain as planned.
Run numbers, timetables, the unveiling of Tyney the Tortoise, a fantastic atmosphere, a brand new event village, food and drinks stalls, and of course, the medals and goody bags. We are aware that some of our runners will have been lucky enough to have had a Birthday since the original date. All runners will take part in the wave that they were originally scheduled to run in, using the original race number.
We really hope you're able to join us for what will be a fantastic celebration of the next generation of runners.
