Route information
The 10k and 10 mile courses set out together until approximately 5 miles/8k. At this point, the routes split, later to re-join and split again. Keep an eye out for signage for your distance and listen to the marshals. Participants will enjoy the beautiful surroundings, racing through picturesque fields and woodland areas. It is a wonderful location for a trail run. Taking place in December there is bound to be mud and runners will encounter a variety of fun and challenging terrain, including:
- Water crossings
- Roman Walls
- Grassy fields
- Muddy footpaths
- Tricky hills
This makes for a challenging, but fun event for runners of a variety of abilities. You will be sure to enjoy this perfect setting for a winter trail run and the wonderful atmosphere at the race.

All event car parking will be at the Mereoak Park & Ride site (RG7 1PB). Mereoak Park & Ride is signed half a mile south of Junction 11 of the M4 and along the A33. There will be a free bus shuttle service to the race HQ and back to the park and ride after the event.
By Train
Mortimer Station is approximately 1.5 miles from the event venue.
Event day logistics
10:00 10 mile & 10k start
Runners will be set off at timed intervals to enable better social distancing, with faster runners starting first to limit overtaking.
Registration
Race numbers will be posted prior to the event and there will be no entries taken on the day. There will be a baggage area, at which you leave your bag at your own risk.
Age Restrictions
10k participants must be 13 years or older.
10 mile participants must be 16 years or older.
Cut off times
There is a 2 hour cut off time at the 8 mile point in the 10 mile event. If you miss the cut off you will be directed to the finish completing a total distance of approximately 8.5 miles.
Kit
Runners are recommended to wear trail shoes and to bring a dry set of clothes and shoes to wear after the race. Along with a water bottle to put at the finish line as there won't be aid stations on the course. There will be limited water and cups at the finish line. Please also bring a cup for mulled wine.
Dogs
You can run with your dog, as long as your dog is on a short lead. Sadly you will not be eligible for prizes, but your dog will receive a bone.
Spectator Info
Spectators are encouraged not to attend the event due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation.

On the 10 mile event, there is a 2 hour cut-off at the 8 mile point. You will take a different route to the finish, completing 8.5 miles in total.
Is there parking at the Gut Buster?
There is free parking at the Mereoak Park & Ride, with free 10 minute bus shuttle to and from the venue.
Can I run with my dog at The Gut Buster?
Dogs can run but they must be kept on a short lead, sadly you will not be eligible for prizes but your dog will receive a bone!
Can I run with headphones at The Gut Buster?
For the safety of all participants, headphones are not allowed at the Gut Buster.
