Route information
Both routes rise high and steep. They afford spectacular views of the Moor and Tors, with some of the best trail running Dartmoor has to offer.
Hameldown Hammer
The route is challenging, and not for the faint-hearted. With a 98% trail course and a total ascent of 650m, this event is designed to be a test of endurance.
The route will take runners across grassy, rocky, and sometimes muddy tracks. The biggest challenge of the course comes in the form of the double ascent of the Hameldown Ridge.
Hameldown 7EVEN
This route, while not as long, still features 350m of ascent and the same tricky double ascent of the Hameldown Ridge. Your legs will definitely be feeling the burn throughout this race.

Amazing run, really well marshalled and signposted. It’s hard going with 750+ metres of ascent, but totally worth it. The views on the moors are stunning and the course is challenging but great fun. I’ll return next year without a doubt

Fabulous location. Very well marked out route so if you find yourself running on your own there is no chance of getting lost. A few marshals along the route offering drinks and snacks. Even if you do not consume any of it its is reassuring to see them and get their supportive encouragement.Great experience.

I am so glad the first aid was on course as I took a little fall. This didn't stop me as I was determined to complete such a stunning but tough course in heartland of Dartmoor

Only did the 10k as it was my first challenging race back from injury. Definitely took a lot of mental strength to get up those hills at times but still an awesome event.

I wish I had improved kit at this was a tough course. So my variety in the terrain throughout the half marathon. My hardest challenge to date.
